Default Rod/Piston weight matching

/I've got a set of supertechs which all weigh the same except for one which is 1.5 grams heavier than the rest.

I've got a set of rods where the lightest rod is 532.1g total, and the heaviest is 522.6g total. (Adding big end weight + small end weight since they are written on the box of each rod)

When I match a piston to a rod, should I be matching it to the small end weight or the total weight of the rod? The small ends are all within .5 of each other, but if I were to match the heaviest piston with the lightest rod (lightest total weight), the total weights would be damn near equal.

Which weights should I be matching, and how close should they be? If I don't need to match them perfectly I'd rather not take them all the way to my machinist to take some weight off. I don't have a scale or an efficient way of removing material. Right now all the piston/rod assemblies are within 1.6 grams of each other (total weight).

Opinions? Should I throw this together or should I match them perfectly? Empirical data is appreciated aka "I tried this and its been fine for x amount of time"

I think soviet didn't weigh his pistons, I think he just bolted it all together.

never weighed and never had problems.

but honestly if you have the time, and the means, to match them up and get them as accurate and balanced as possible, why not? I'll probably do it on my next build just because
