Default totally newbie question

So I know I might get flamed for this but I need the information. I come from the Bg chassis background and they already had the vics inside the intake from the start, but with the Miata what year did they start? 99+ if I'm correct?? If so, is there a sticky already made for making/building the device to operate them? I'm trying to start the build for my 97 Miata and I have a few 1.8 engines laying around that will need odd parts for. One needs a head so I figure I might as well use the 99-00 one with corresponding intake

I also heard for a few guys that the 02+ used forged pistons that raised the compression vs the 94-00 1.8l. Its what I heard so I'm not thinking its completely true.

Edit that post so we can see where sentences start and end, then I will reply.

WTF is "Bg chassis background"?
99 and 00 for VICs.
Just use a solenoid with a 1-way valve.
01-05 use cast 10:1 pistons.

Unless it's a 323 GTX, which is badass. But since you didn't mention that, I'd guess that it wasn't.

So, why do you want to raise compression? What is your end goal?

Eh, to each his own. They had the 1.8l way before the Miata did. They helped my learn and are my "Mazda roots". I bought my first Miata because of them.
Now more about the vics.... Just a soleniod? Are you talking about manually activating them? Eventually i will go MS but thats a long way off.

The VICS solenoid goes on an RPM switch. ~5,500 RPM IIRC.
