Default Result of boosting w/0 warmup

Turkey day this year i drove my Miata early in the morning and didn't let it warm up. The next day i opened my hood to find oil blown everywhere from the dipstick and assumed i ruined my rings. Turns out i cracked piston number 1. This was at 264 hp/220 tq powerlevel 1.6l stock with meth.

I feel like it was more than a cold start that did this.

Seems like too much timing advance with temperature drop.

Was running the same spark tune for over 2 months. The temperature was 40* minimum. Plus I drove that car hard more than once. Surprising the crank and bearings look really good for 130k. I acquired a short block tonight that i will use one of the pistons and rebuild.

Edit to add: What I meant when i said I drove the car, is I ran through the gears all the way home.

The crank is good for a lot more.

I never let my car warm up. I boost down the driveway. ringlands dont blow up from that; let's see the tops of the piston, that was detonation's dirty work.

What does the bore look like?

Just gonna slap another stock piston in there with no other work done?

Come on OP, at least get some egay rods. They will even work with your 1.8 you should eventually build.

Bore looks fine. I have forged rods but my plans for this car is rebuild the engine then sell it to get a nb.
