Default LS Coils question

I've been having some trouble with my toyota cops coils causing a misfire, so decided to switch over to LS coils.

I'd prefer to buy new after having a few used toyota cops go bad and as i'm from the UK, i can't get any from a junk yard.

I wondered, is it recommended to go for genuine GM coils, or are other brands good enough?

This is a genuine coil i was looking at:
Genuine GM Vortec LS2 truck D585 NEW ignition coil | eBay

These are a 1/4 of the price, but i dont want to use them if they're not recommended:

I would suggest you google that, and read in a LS specific forum.

I don't see why it matters really, if its good on an LS, its going to be good on a miata...unless there are particular generations of LS coils which are easier for miata adaption.

There are supposedly sizable differences in the outputs of the different LS coils. I can't give you any more than that.

I've searched on here and found out which is the best coil for the application, the links i've posted are both the same part number. Just one is oem GM and the other is aftermarket. I thought it may be useful for others in the future searching on here. As i can't see that its been mentioned before.

Summit has the Accel versions on sale for $45. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they'll ship until the end of May.

Good info in the video notes on YouTube as well.

From what I've gathered, if you want the biggest of the baddest, you'll want the D585 truck coils. Truth is, any LSx coil is probably going to be massive overkill for what we all are doing.

Arent the OEM GM supposed to be better than the accel? I remember my LS friends upgrading from their MSD and accel setups, that they bought when they didnt know any better, to the truck coils.

Honestly, I have no idea. In the limited reading I've done I got the impression they were the exact same coils, just painted yellow. That may not be accurate.

Summit has the GM truck coils for $50 ea, in stock.
