I was blessed with being able to help crew this weekend for the Texans for the Chumpcar 24 hours at VIR.
The car did fantastic considering the issues we faced: overheating drivers, bad brakes, bad weather, and a broken shock.
We started out in 36th (out of 100 something) and were in 5th and would have been still climbing when 12 hours into the race we were disappointed the driver rear shock shaft sheared off and failed. We lost an hour trying to barter for a replacement and swap it out. That put us back to 32nd, where we ultimately finished in 16th Sunday morning. Still an amazing outing and they were the best miata out there for sure.
My brain is still mush but I managed to upload enough pictures for a teaser of the weekend.

Also: Big props to Shueinds for smoking all weekend which lead to my 3:00am parking lot puke & passout! I got punch drunk on meats.

Brisket of peace.
We drove in the Audi and arrived at 5am in Houston, the truck and trailer crew chose a hotel in Georgia. I'll post More when. I awake. The TDI A3 was north of 90mph for most of the drive and still did 41mpg. However it destroyed my back to the point that I couldn't run into Shane's house yo make the mud, I hobbled.
I will post more when I get back to Dallas. Lars and Scott are two very special men who know know how to show a Texan male a good time.

Of the driver's that hadn't been to VIR before (all or most of them?), how'd you like it?
I haven't been since the tree's been gone, kind of dreading seeing that corner minus a big a$$ tree.

I got in two laps in my WRX. amazing track. The Texans were gushing over it as well. Hustler was quite upset during my laps that he was only crewing and not driving.

Green Glory Hole will make a visit there for the Grand configuration in the next few years. I'll be back, but in a car with ASTs.
