G: I would raise the I/C and fab a duct with a dam to channel fresh air past the I/C and up into the radiator.

You've already started down the path by removing AC, why not embrace it and remove the silly PS while you're at it...

:fael:

Don't believe for a second I didn't consider this. I've got a second power steering rack in the garage for precisely this reason. I'm just waiting to take it over to Gesso's house so we can get tiggy with the pinion, I just don't want to distract from our steamrolling productivity on his ridiculous car project ;)

I'm not sure I follow you here... I can move the IC up maybe 1" before the inlet/outlet tubes hit the bottom of the framerails. This would give me a 1" of open space for air to bypass the intercooler and go through the radiator. If I close that 1" off, I lose 1" of radiator... like I say, I'm not visualizing what you are saying :bang: Got a picture of something similar?

Ohhhh the BEGI Scooper thing! Haha, I get it!

While I'm sure that will help, its really not an option for me. I'm already at the point where if I don't pay attention to my angle of attack, I scrape the shit out of my car entering my driveway. I damn near high centered it before I was forced to raise the ride height... and I'm not really that low at all.

with no ac the intercooler routing on our cars is retarded easy. you got this dude.

Routing I've got in the bag, no worries there. I've got the silicone for the FM 1 piece on the driver side, but I may yet go with the MSM routing anyway. FM 1 piece on the passenger side FTMFW. Gesso has a TIG so I'd like to build the feed in 2 parts (because 3 couplers is way better than the 8 or 9 I have now) to really "tie the room together" in the parlance of our times. It's the mounting I'm worried about, mainly because this thing is heavier than I remember and I don't want to fuck up my airflow to the radiator and have terminal heat problems like I did at Thunderhill.

mx594m: Props for that link. Even though I won't be using the scooper, Andrews comments in that thread are EXACTLY what I was looking for with regards to airflow and routing for intercooler and radiator.

I'll probably just build out more ductwork from the OEM scoper duct that I butchered (or buy a used one) with some sort of black plastic riveted into place and hit the rest with legit fabric tape or something. Plus election signs.

I'm also seriously thinking about one of these:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1384967368
Because it looks seriously clean and should be functional and convenient.

18psi 11-20-2013 02:36 PM

Yep, I'll be running one of those as well. Make 2 and gimme one :D

EO2K 11-20-2013 03:08 PM

I'll trade you one for the extra BEGI coolant/oil line kit that's sitting in your garage that we discussed a while back ;)

18psi 11-20-2013 03:09 PM

I'm actually going to use that kit for now. Don't have time to fab up hardlines like I wanted to, so until I do I'm using these.

My vote ;) :

^^ I snuggles with that while the wife isn't looking :makeout:

EO2K 11-20-2013 03:59 PM

I'm actually debating sending the manifold, exhaust housing and downpipe elbow thing to Swain for some White Lightning :burncash:

TurboTim 11-20-2013 04:41 PM

That would make it more difficult to repair cracks.

EO2K 11-20-2013 05:03 PM

I'm not snuggling it that hard :giggle:

Dammit, wrong thread
