My M64 Build Diary
Ok, I'll start here:
I love the whining of superchargers
I think the linear power deliverly suits the miata better...
I'm starting this little diary to encourage others here to go the SC DIY route along with proper engine management
My car: 92 1.6l LE miata
Goal:
Water to air intercooled coldside M64 supercharger (switchable) running with E85
Jan, 23
What's been done so far:
Drivetrain:
11lb OEM flywheel
Spec Stage 2 Clutch
95 drivedrain/Diff 4.1:1 Ratio
Rx7 LSD (clutch type)
Engine/ Management:
Coldside coolant reroute
Emanage Blue+O2 Clamp, already wired in
Rx7 Flowmeter
Soon to come:
Zeitronix Zt-2
Knocksense MS
Fuel:
190lhp pump
E85 save fuel lines
DIY dual feed fuel line
460 Rx7 injectors
(yet to be installed)
Supercharger:
M64 out of a Mercedes 320 CLK
electronic clutch
dedicated 6rib belt
Pulley ratio: 1.6 to 1
Expected HP: 180-190whp

230ccm x1,3 (because of E85) x 1,5 (max size the EMB can handle) = 446ccm
Orgiginaly, I wanted to use Supra turbo 440 injectors, but couldn't figure out wether they are high or low impendance...the list here says...both
The clutch is a stock feature on the donor car, the charger is usually shut off there and gets activated only past 3000 rpm

Turbo MKIII Supra 440CC injectors should be high impedance, pretty sure they were when I ohmed mine. I have a set (5) that I would sell if you would rather run those (Bought 6, one was dead). PM me if you would be interested

ehhhh... i really don't think the EMB is gonna work. just skip it, save a bunch of time, and go with MS.
even if the EMB could control 460s are you sure they're enough? they max at about 220-250whp on a turbo gas engine, so on e85... i'd guess you'll be cutting it close at 200whp. find a calculator.

The stock intake manifold has been cut just after the Screw points for the fuel rail. The intake manifold itsself will have a simple triangular shape with the inlet on the bottom (and the
Bypass-inlet on top) and will be welded to the manifold flange. The Blower is going have a seperated mounting plate with a cutout for the fuelrail so that no stress is put on the aluminium welds.
The Water to air intercooler will be one of those Cheap "XS Power" intercoolers from Ebay and will either be directly integrated into the manifold or the SC mounting plate or will just hang unter the blower...still not sure wich way to go...

Actually, I just stole the idea from FMs early Ubercharger prototype...
The intake manifold will somewhat look like this:

On top of that a separate mounting plate which bolts to the Head instead of the intake Manifold...
I'm going to take the intake manifold apart during the next few days and spend some time building a prototype out of 5mm PVC sheets

...also I do live in Germany. There is no way going through TUEV with a standalone, especially when they see the blower and ask how fuel is controlled...so the only other option would be a EMU which is really expensive here.
If I'm close to the edge on injector duty cycle, I would propably install a simple 4:1 FMU ...

Well the EMB was a great deal on ebay...100$ including the ignition harness...couldn't resist...
...also I do live in Germany. There is no way going through TUEV with a standalone, especially when they see the blower and ask how fuel is controlled...so the only other option would be a EMU which is really expensive here.
