I hope you can find a good PM&R doc near you that specializes in rehab medicine because a good one of those will essentially work with you to exhaust every option before surgery and can help pave the way forward. I'd look one up or find recommendations for someone in your area. They're worth their weight in gold for this kind of thing.

On the plus side, there's decent literature to support that a herniated disc in the lower back can resolve within the year of symptoms, but I'm not sure if that study (SPORT Trial) accounts for trauma. If you herniated 5 discs in your lower back (i.e. lumbar spine) that means you herniated EVERY disc in your lumbar spine (except for maybe one depending on how they're counting).

My rec as someone that went through agony for years, though yours seems way ******* worse, is to find someone that can work with you for now without the knives. I really hope you heal fast man that ******* blows. Hopefully the other drivers insurance is still covering all the treatment.

Also, skiing 21 days after back surgery isn't typical lol.
The accident that caused most of the damage was when I was 21 (I'm 26 now). It just got worse in my neck after the most recent accident. And you are right, the doc said it was all of my lower back. You definitely know what you are talking about lol

But yea, I'm looking into options now, and I can always rebuy a miata in the future, but right now it's not being driven enough to justify keeping it. I would rather spend the money on stuff I can do right now.

Aiight I took her out for a spin today, it's still overheating but only when the AC is on. I'm sure it's just an airflow issue, but it's going to be the next guys problem because I don't have the energy to fix it. I already posted it for sale on CL and LetGo.

crazy thought re: AC causing it to overheat.

The AC fan is wired correctly yeah?
ie: the polarity hasnt been swapped, which would make it spin backwards and try to push air forwards rather than draw air through the rad?

I wish it were that easy. But nah that was one of the first things I checked and it's wired correctly.

It's most likely because the SC has an intercooler stuffed in the grill now blocking air flow. I have a very similar setup and I switched to the FM stage 1 airflow kit with Spal fans.

Good luck with the sale.

Hey guys. Reviving this thread for (probably) the last time. I decided not to sell the car, my boss gave me Megan coilovers and some form of Enkei rims I can't find the model number for, for free. With that being said, I added some ghetto (really just a prototype) coroplast air ducting and it helped a TON. So airflow is definitely my issue, I just need to get some ABS and build a litte better, more permanent solution.

If this car was complete, I would keep it, but it's not and I don't have the money to be able to pay someone to finish it for me.

I herniated L4 twice, first at 32 and again at 38. The first time I herniated the disc, by the time I got to see the surgeon I was able to walk. He told me my MRI looked horrible but he didn't want to do surgery at my age. The second time I literally laid on the floor for 4 weeks until I could work through physical therapy. I did some research and found that at a young age the disc will heal and studies showed that those who had surgery vs those who didn't, there wasn't much difference between their results after the two year mark. At age 26 you're young enough you might heal naturally. There are also some disc injections that they have now vs when I had my issues back in 2000/2006. I also have more than just a disc issue but have been able to do most of what I need to do. Good luck.

Im glad you didn't sell the car, life shafts all of us at some point, and having to give up something you love because of it sounds miserable.
It sure sounds like airflow is the overheating issue, I would ditch those baby teeth and look into pushing more air into and then out of the engine bay. maybe heat shield the supercharger better, so its not totally heat soaked by the time you are cruising.
as far as only making 8 psi, that sounds about right, you will lose some pressure across the intercooler, plus the altitude, that and if there is any kind of leak or bleed off, sounds about right to me.

Sadly on October 25th I got into another accident that sent my back over the edge. I can barely even walk anymore due to it. Thank god I was in my S60R(Volvo) instead of my Miata, or I might be dead. I sold the Miata shortly after that.

Also, to anyone that ever reads this thread, so I don't leave it in a dead end thread, I did end up fully curing the overheating before I sold it. It was an airflow issue. I installed some coroplast ducting to the front and I could do 100+ on the freeway uphill under boost and stay between 200-206F.
