6 speeds. How many variants????
Ok lets settle this.
Im on an aussie forum regularly when I should just be here.
Plenty of idiots, and a few who come on and post rubbish occasionally and because they are somehow affiliated with some shop everyone believes.
Please View some of this thread and tell me the truth.

I expect Sav will be able to settle this.
How many variants of a 6 speed are there?
Im aware there is an argument for the shotpeened msm box but nobody seems to either believe that its msm boxes only, or nobody has found that it matters.
For those confused, the sp and se are the names of the aussie factory turbo nb's.

There are only two 6speeeds and the difference is the gear treatment on the mazdaspeeds in the us. I highly doubt that you guys have a separate OEM transmission for seem other series, but I have no direct experience with aussie cars.
The only variation that I can say exists with 100% certainty in NB 6-speeds is the shift ****.
I have doubts that the MSM and non-MSM transmissions have any difference whatsoever.

No confirmation by anyone?
The claims are that the sp and se boxes are totally different. Shot peened gears are all Ive heard about.
Have you ever heard of another box with the same bell housing?

The sp is the after factory turbo one. Didnt realise the msm was identical to the se.

There's no other 6-speed box that has significantly different internals (beyond the SE/MSM box's shotpeened gears) that would bolt into place. If they're claiming otherwise, I'd like to see some comparison shots.
Ill take heaps next time Im at the circuit.
Guys like to throw names and shop names around and talk **** on that site so much, but its the only local site.
**** like, "With some modifications the SP boxes hold up well enough".
I ask what mods and they throw a name of a tuner at me. No one answered anything did they.
And this is why MT.net Is the only site one needs.

All that I have realy seen are quaif gears and in a video of Fuji racings track car it seemed like he had a sequential transmission. I haven't been able to find out anything on that one though. I haven't seen anything that will just bolt up from another car.
The parts guide does have different part numbers for the MS trans over the regular 6 speed

I've had two SE/MSMs in the past and they had a significantly different TorSen (Bosch?) and thicker axles, so it wouldn't surprise me if they beefed up the gearbox in some way?
We all know they have a different rear end, but No one is breaking regular 1.8 diffs and those breaking 6 speeds are looking to TII boxes not some magic aussie SP box.
