Why couldn't you just use a piece of threaded black pipe with the top piece welded in?
Tapered threads are less than perfect at adjustability...

You can buy adapters from them to run different shocks.

1 inch and 1.5 inch work for most applications. If you are really hellaslammed you might need 2 inch.
