Default BOFI Racing Dual Friction Clutch Kit - detail pics inside and review

Now something a lot of (euro)guys have been waiting for.

My BOFI Racing clutch kit (274 pounds without taxes) is finally at my home after a one week trip through customs. Brexit doesn't help with shipping everywhere else, but whatever...
Bofi themselves were very fast, I had very friendly contact with one of the owners and can only recommend the service.

Important: I have nothing to do with them, just want to share another clutch option, we are pretty much lost in the clutch department here in Europe, if you DON'T want a puck clutch or the 650€ ACT extreme full face organic with a very heavy pedal.

So, what's in the box?

As you can see, they provide a Koyo pilot bearing and an unknown release bearing, seems good quality, but you never know with these. A simpe plastic clutch alignment tool is mandatory.
I won't be using their release bearing, because I bought a genuine LUK bearing a while ago and haven't had bad luck with these on a few BMW's I worked on. Not that I don't trust theirs, but I'll be using the LUK.

Quality seems good, the grooves in the PP are supposed to increase clamping force by +8%. The full face side goes to the flywheel, which should help with smooth take offs etc. The puck side is logically on the PP-side and is supposed to hold all the jam.

These are conservatively rated to 300ft lbs of torque and driveability pretty much like stock, I'm excited. Right now I'm on a Competition Clutch Stage 4 and this things grabs amazing, but city driving
or letting other people drive the car is a huge pain in the ***. BOFI's clutch looks pretty much identical to the Skuzzle Clutch (some may know), which is a little bit more expensive, but the latter is rated at 350ft lbs or more. Crazy...

I'm going to fit this clutch the next 2 or 3 weeks and swap turbos from a GT2560R (270ft lbs atw) to a GTX2860R gen2 (hopefully 300ft lbs+ atw) and a six speed/3.63 torsen. They wrote via email, that they have customers with EFR's, who are perfectly happy with the clutch and don't overwhelm it.

Will report back.

Very nice, I have no doubt that it can handle ALLOFIT from a GT2560R

Quick update after a 40 miles trip home after clutch job. Will write a full review after more seat time and bigger turbo, probably in one or two weeks:

When backing off the shop for the first time, I could feel a noticable difference in engagement, way smoother than my CC Stage 4 (no surprise, that thing was rough). It was even slight uphill and with a little bit of clutch slip, it behaved very nicely.
Pedal effort is practically the same as my old clutch, pretty light for a clutch, that can hold big torque. I would say just a little bit harder than stock, but overall still very light and fun.
There was absolutely no adjustment needed on the pedal itself like some have to do with the FM clutches. Gear changes are as smooth, as a clutch allows, just put it in and drive, very nice.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm looking forward to drive this thing more and test out what it's capable of in terms of real torque capacity. I did one quick uphill pull in 5th gear at around 16-17psi, no problems at all.
I almost hated to drive the car around town, just because of the horrible 6 puck and I believe that I can enjoy the car a lot more in the future

Sucks you guys can't easily get the supermiata clutch out there. Love mine. Although I have to wonder how you're holding a trans together with 300-350 torque.

300trq on the street (!) with easy boost onset should be doable

Update:

We finally have better weather here in middle Europe and I managed to put around 200 miles on the clutch.

First: Make sure to put a little bit of grease on the contact area between the slave cylinder and shift fork, when doing a clutch job. I forgot it and had a very annoying whistle at pretty much any speed. Fixed that, much better.

Driveability: Backing off needs just a little bit more revs to be super smooth, you can tell it's a clutch, that can handle the power. You can't back off at 1200rpm and dump the clutch, but at say 2000rpm everything is fine.
When moving forward in first gear after a stop, the clutch behaves very nicely, no judder at all, but you can feel that there is a 6 puck in there. Not in a bad way, no no, but you can feel whats going on inside. Hard to explain, I think you just have to try it out. Some people maybe wouldn't even notice, I don't know.

What I also really like about this clutch, is that it's very consistent in operation, the grabbing point is absolutely solid and never moves a bit.

Clamping power (I will update, when my new turbo is on, now it's my 2560R at full tilt):
We had cold weather yesterday and the car spun 3rd gear with a long 3.6 torsen rear end. I couldn't get it to slip once, feels very good.
I'm at ~280tq at the wheels and I tried to get it to slip in 6th at 18-19psi on an uphill, no problems at all.

Overall I really enjoy driving the car again and was smiling the whole day. A good and driveable clutch is on top of the list for my next high power car, whatever that is.

Can recommend!
