Check my contact pattern

I started the assembly of my rear today, pinion preload is set to 12 in-lbs rotational torque using Weir performance solid pinion spacer kit. Backlash is set to around .0035"

I checked my contact pattern as i changed to a 3.636 R+P, i reused my distance spacer to see where i stand for pinion depth, this is what i got

Looks great. There's a lot of maths involved in finding the pitch circle, which is where the gears touch. But it's roughly 1/2-2/3rds down the tooth. So that looks good. Follow the writeup on m.net for setting the bearing preload and backlash and you'll be fine.

Nice link, his contact looks "ideal" to me then.

awsome, your the third to confirm it looks good. I cant believe i didnt have to change the pinion spacer, i thought for sure i would be doing this multiple times to get the pinion depth set right

if anything it looks between performance and ideal. They call it performance because when you load the teeth hard they deflect, So you set the it so when they deflect they make better contact.
