Bought a set of 3.63 gears from a member and got the package today. The box was pretty much screwed with the postal stamps all saying "we got it damaged yo..." Took photos and unpacked everything to inspect.
Only problem I see is a chipped tooth but unsure if it's safe to install with the usual grinding away of the rough edges of the chipped area. I've PM'd the seller but if anyone with real experience tells me it's OK to run I will vs go through the whole paypal route.
Thoughts? You can see the chipped piece laying in the root so obvious it happened in transit. Pinion is fine.
I'll say it......If I did that to the ring gear and my only options we to scrap it or run it.... I'd run it. The chip is in a very non critical part of the tooth. I would do a good job of deburing the chip so you're sure it won't cause damage to the pinion. Worse case it wears the pinion and you have to swap it.

If the seller is willing to replace.....Do that.
I thought about it which is why I posted. Damage is partially into the wear zone if setup properly.
Ring is scrapped. Took it to a shop this morning who does 4WD work and the guy said basically "if it were my car I wouldn't but I'll put it in if you want". Seller and I worked it out so I'll get in line for another set. Pinion gear's on it's way back so he knows I'm not running it.
These things really need to be packed well so nothing gets hit against during shipping.
