Did I mess up my tranny? (install question)
Hey guys,
I am glad to be a part of Miata Turbo and am soon going to turbocharge my 99' Miata. Before I do so, I had to buy a 949 Racing single disc clutch and flywheel upgrade to handle the power. I dropped the transmission (fluid drained), installed the clutch+pressure plate+flywheel, and am now in the process of trying to stab the transmission back into place. I can stab it a little, but then it doesn't want to go in that last 1/2 inch to inch.
I read online that the input shaft will spin if it's in neutral and that it's harder to stab that way. So I put the shifter back in the tranny, put it in gear, and the input shaft still spins! I took the shifter out and a plastic "half moon" plastic piece came out with it. Am I screwed? What are your suggestions?
here is a pic of the plastic piece that came up with the shifter.
Plastic piece that came up with the shifter :-(
Thanks!
