I'm building a locost 7 style car using mx5 components. Have a 7" open diff mounted in it. The propshaft tunnel is central so that when I have the propshaft flange lined up with it and the diff casing centred the axle drive shafts are offset 20mm to the left. I think it will be rather expensive getting the shafts cut and lengthened if its even possible on heat treated items. So my question is do any of the other diffs (preferably lsd) have the axle outputs equal distance from the centre of the diff. Mine by the way has cv cups on the output rather then flanges.

Something sounds off. Pretty sure our diffs and driveshafts are centered in the chassis, as are the output shafts.
Are you saying you know they're off due to your chassis design? Or you don't know why it's off.

I have not thought about it myself before but it looks like the pinion is on the right side of the center, and the rest of the diff is centered (what's the reference ).
Having the prop shaft at an angle is nice for the jokes, but can be unpleasant for the hip/kidneys on the person in the right hand seat in a seven.

I have not thought about it myself before but it looks like the pinion is on the right side of the center, and the rest of the diff is centered (what is the reference ).

Some help (not sure if you are able to verify that all have the pinion offset to the right but i would assume so, unsure about the 6.5" diffs)

I guess I probably have to fork out and get some custom made driveshafts. If I do that I'd want to know I could use them on a torsen diff if and when I upgrade it.
