Miata2fast,
do you think switching from a 225 tire (15x8 +25) on the front of the car to stock 185 tires (14x6) will help the car pick up a couple mph trap speed? Less tire poking out.
Going to the strip Wednesday

Definitely faster, but more for reasons of rotational mass.

So,would a heavier and narrower front setup be quicker than a wider and lighter front?

Also, thanks for the sway bar tips

Ready for the strip.
Axles are almost parallel to the ground. Going to raise the rear even more to get them perfectly parallel for maximum strength. Im pretty happy with this fitment for such a big tire on a stock fender

Im honestly scared to ride out 4th gear in this thing. If it making the power i think its making, it should trap over 125. The top of 3rd (~90mph) already scares me. Wish me luck ??

Looks like it will cut your sidewalls when the weight transfers to the rear end. I would definitely raise it. Racing isn't about looking just right.

Those stock wheels are a fine choice.

I keep moving my coilovers up but its not really doing much for ride height. I think its just compressing the spring more and more. Which will make rear more stiff? Not sure how they work. Theyre just cheap tein adjustment height coilovers

If they're the ones without the shock body length adjustment, and only have the spring perch adjust, then you may have already hit the maximum length of the shock.

The shock rod itself may be "topping out"

the easiest way to get more height (assuming the above is what's happening) would be to buy a pair of shock spacers and put them on.

Results???

Man that NB looks beastly

12.09 @128

Going back with flat shift set up to go 11s and over 130.
Datalog from 128mph run showed .7 seconds average from the time throttle 100% to full boost while shifting

Very impressive. I just went to the dragstrip for the first time in my life last Wednesday. I got a 13.08 @ 122mph. Pretty happy with it. I've got to figure out the wheel hop at the start, had a horrible 2.7second 60'. I'm pulling the diff to get solid mounts this weekend. At this hp level I'd predict to be in the 12s for sure. Just suck at the launch..

Here's a question - I'm running 27psi boost and my MAT goes from 100F to 180F during the run. Is that excessive? Risky? I'm running the FM intercooler.

Seems excessive to me. The second my car starts moving (airflow) the iats DROP to ambient or slightly above. I also have a big ass IC and no headlight tho

I wish he would post here more. He posted this on facebook.

Yes, and costing you time too. I think mine is more like a 25-30*F rise now, it used to be a lot worse like yours.

Wheel hop fix takes a lot, I had to make several changes to fix that.

Pat!

Big soft squishy tires. That's the best way to solve hop.

And get a better intercooler.

100% true. I had 0 wheel hop with the big side wall hoosiers. Even when it hooked after burnout

What kind of roll bars or roll cages are you guys running at these times? I was told I would need an NHRA 5 point bar to go quicker than 13.49

Yep. This is true, and they are supposed to be weld in on steel plates. However many of the smaller tracks are rather lenient on the rules. I just ordered an Alston 8 point setup from jegs. They aren't that expensive. Getting it fitted and welded is another story.

Newaza 07-13-2019 11:55 AM

Also when you get it sorted out and make some passes please post your times and setup required to achieve those times on my thread titled " post your 1/8th and 1/4 mile times". I figured if people would post there times and setups in one place it will be easier for people to find and see what works and what doesn't.
