Ebay RX7 shifter onto 6 speedbox. DIWhy?
I know there's a proven and frankly much better looking option than this already out there. However ever since I realized that the Rx7 RE Amemiya shifter is just a dolled up miata shifter I wondered if the RX7 B&M knock off could work.
Turns out ....it can.
The one I got was branded autobahn88 but the link below is the same ****

Now the catch. The mounting hole pattern is a little different. I made the modifications on a drill press. If you have access to an mill that would be better.
Basically for the rear most holes you need to drill an 8-9mm hole next to the inside of the existing holes and slot them. For the front holes you have to make a slot at an angle as the RX7 shifter base is about 6mm shorter than the factory one. You will need to use some fender washers on the front 2 bolts and some rtv on the hair line gap.
I apologize as didn't think to take better pictures at the time.
You can see where the drill bit got away from me a few times (wrong tool for the job I know)
pls ignore the hydraulic handbrake. I'll be removing that soon as I find some more ambition to reroute the brake lines.
So if you have the tools and machining wont cost you but 30 mins of your time you can save a few bucks.
