Porterfield made me a set of ST43s for the 890 backing plate. They cost me $249, but don't seem to wear at all.

Yes, BUT... let's say they mic out new at 14.5mm total thickness. I have 9 track days at VIR on them already, with data that shows I'm consistently in the 126-127 mph top speed range. They're still at ~13.5mm, and they're easy on rotors.

EBC have good marketing and good availability, that's it, all else is crap.

Never heard of anyone with a Miata going back to EBC after using proper pads.

Stock pads on a 03 does a much better job at track than anystuff ever will.

They're painted and they like to catch fire.....

OP why not just run them and monitor them through the day after each session. Bring a set of parts store pads with you to get home if need be.
