LOL, I know I'll get flamed but I enjoy drifting. I can't argue about the figure skating comparison argument, but I will say I am always impressed at the level of car control these guys have.
Being able to break sideways entering a corner at 90+mph within inches of a wall and gracefully pull out of it I think is quite impressive. A good friend of mine used to race in Formula D (known as Bubba Drift) and competed in an old El Camino, quite entertaining. I still would like to see someone drift a Chevy Astro Van with an LS1. |

Reason why I don't follw Formula D. Shitty judges. There are fine details, things like taking into consideration slip angle and speed between differnt makes of car. A N/A AE86 wil not have the speed or be able to hold the same amount of angle as say a 240 with an SR. Like said before, like figure skating judging. Proper grip is harder than drifting IMO, but knowing how to control the car when it does start to go sideways is helpful too. Also ---- V8's |

The driver of that team went on his own afterwards and was the very first to have the LS1/240sx combo, working with Hinson to develop it. Granted, funds ended up running out and he only raced about a season before pulling out. |

With my warning in my pocket I depart this thread. The Miatae there were only pushing 400-500 hp and they did not make the round of 16. I venture to guess that JR Gittin's Mustang build by Ford Racing is closer to 1000-1200 hp. Most good drifters are accomplished road racers, drag racers and rally racers: Millen, Hubinette, Papadakis, etc. Others are accomplished drifters. If some of you would try it once in a while (going beyond personal comfort levels) you may find that drifting properly requires exquisite car control skills which is why you want high grip tires and the best suspension you can set up. Anyway, I understand that you do not care for this sport anymore than you would for hill-climbs (that was my next thread) so I go to other threads and let this one die. |
yeah your not gonna win here, they hate it, doesnt matter if the cars double as time attack car, or the drivers are ex/current road racers. its just figure skating. It doesnt matter if its fun as hell and cost a fraction of what it cost to drive a track day. Obviously if you want to have fun its not allowed on here. your only allowed to post about your DIY plywood splitter ripping off at 125 mph, slashing your $250 ea advan tires.

Why would I be mad, I just got home from doing 21psi pulls in my car that running like a rapped ape. I'm smiling from ear to ear and I'm gonna take it to nj and beat the ---- out of it on Saturday. And if I blow in up or smash it. Oh well then I will rebuild it cause I'm a BOSS
