Finally installing my super miata end links. The rear holes on my front sway bar give me better end link geometry according to the install instructions. They sit perpendicular to ground and chassis from the front and the sides. But I only have like 1/8" clearance to my precious Xidas. On a big bump will the bolt potentially hit the shock? Or is there no bump big enough with my 800lb springs?


Edit: I also used the short bolts on the bottoms because I couldn't get the long ones in with the tie rods in the way. I didn't think to check to see if they might have thread instead of shoulder under the tapered spacer. Should I swap the long bolts to the bottoms?

 

OK to tilt the link away from shock by using whatever combo of bolts and spacers allow it. Be creative, save the Xidas.

I'm using no spacers at all up front, the bottom end of the link is sandwiched in my dual tab NA lower arm mount and the upper has no room for a spacer. I'm going to run them in the front holes for clearance.




I'm thinking they'd be fine in the rear holes, the shock body should move with the bolt head in a bump, but I'd rather not take the risk.

I always go for the front hole when running stiffer rates. It doesn't have to be perfectly at 90*, just as close as possible with the vehicle on its own weight. Adjust accordingly and ensure all bearings have equal movement (not bound up). Also, if you haven't done so already, install some split-shaft collars on the swaybar, just inside of the mount brackets. It'll keep the bar from shifting side to side, protecting your Xida investment.

 

McMaster seems to have aluminum collars in metric bar sizes for as good a price as anywhere, unless I'm not looking in the right places? $10-15/collar.

 

I've ordered from there. They have it all and is your best bet if amazon comes up short
