Default Gouged oil seal seat. Will it leak?

I was careless when removing the rear transmission oil seal and I gouged the seat. I sanded down the high spots as seen in the photo. Will it leak? Should I use a little silicone when I push in the seal? What do you think?

Wouldn't worry about it.

The rear transmission seal doesn't really seem to have a bunch of oil near it. It isn't like the crank seals on the engine. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I'd disagree with that, it makes a pretty awful mess if its a bad seal, I know from experience. That being said I'd assume most of the sealing happens around the driveshaft, not the bore you pictured. I'd probably clean it off with an alcohol wipe and smear some RTV in there before pushing in the seal, but that probably does nothing, either way I'd think you'd be fine.

No silicone. Oil the seal, and ease it in. It'll be fine.
