I think I have a sweaty sack you can lick......wait.......yep. All sweatied up from replacing a front crank seal tonight. ;)

Can anyone point me in the direction of door bar safety literature?

Thanks,

LOL. Cool bars though seriously. After my current accidents, im wondering if these are a good idea for me:giggle:

the shipping weight was 20-22 lbs in the box, so around 20 for the pair. They should fit the NB also, but i can't promise 100% becasue i have an NA.

I also dont have them installed in my car right now, i shipped out that pair, but i will post the pics soon or when djp gets his he might post up some pics and a review.

miatamike203 05-19-2010 09:06 PM

ill take a set if it turns out they fit the 99 miatas

same here

wittyworks 05-19-2010 10:28 PM

either of you wanna be the NB tester? pm me if you want to. The bars that hard dog sells fit all years, so i don't see mine wouldn't. Also, they were actually just over 20 lbs shipped, not 30. so the bars are probably about 18 pounds total.

wittyworks 05-23-2010 02:39 PM

hey nick, send me another pm, ill just send them to you as the first nb tester.

chris777 05-24-2010 09:11 PM

Evan-- could you shoot me an email at olson (at) sfsu.edu with your contact info? Can't PM and the email listed on your website is bouncing back.

Cheers!

Will these fit cars without roll bars already installed? Reading your original post I was getting the impression they required a roll bar to bolt into.

As of yet I haven't chosen a roll bar, but the car I bought has a glass rear window so my options are a bit limited. For now I'd like to just add the door bars for the structural rigidity.

wittyworks 05-25-2010 11:15 PM

I guess they do not require a roll bar, but you would have to buy the backing plates off of Bethania garage because with the bars you re-use that on the top. Personally, i think that if you are feeling the difference that these make, you are driving hard enough to require a roll bar, and a roll bar adds stiffness in itself. i would not run these without a roll bar.

It's in the plans, but I wasn't sure how much difference the actual roll bar would make. If you're saying that much then I might have to look at doing both at the same time.

Now I just need to figure out a bar that will fit.

Sent you a PM, please respond.

The roll bar doesn't make the car THAT much stiffer... but it does make it THAT much safer.

The door bars make the car THAT much stiffer...but it doesn't make it any safer.

anyone have positive feedback of these bars? im considering getting a pair

miatauser884 06-07-2010 06:30 PM

I haven't put mine on yet. I still need to paint them. I would recommend they be primed before shipment. I've set mine out for a little while and I will have to hit them with a little sand paper before I prime them. I did a rough test fit, and I like where they are going to mount.
