Hmm. Definitely going to take a closer look at this in order to figure out if I can use my current clutch/flywheel setup with the adapter.

I have a 5.5" Quartermaster twin disc clutch that I can just change the friction plates to match the transmission splines, but need to research pilot bearing and whether or not the starter ring gear on the flywheel is the correct diameter and mounting depth.

Yeah we realize there is a market for a twin disc setup. Shoot me an email if you'd like to discuss further.

I mean you can already easily put a t5 behind an mzr like I did. Its much cheaper than this kit, but you have to do a lot more work (between figuring out your own clutch setup and making your own transmission mount) and the bell housing casting leaves a lot to be desired.

Yes, T5 is an option but its not so readily available in the uk, the mx5 nc gearbox handles around the same power as a stock T5 so not much benefit. The ZF 5/6 speed transmissions takes a lot more abuse so something i'm looking at making fit once i get to breaking a couple of mazda transmissions, would have to use a BMW diff also since the ratios aren't so favourable with the stock Miata sport one. Still some time to go before i end up having to go this way... not to mention having to re-register the car and have it tested since its been "radically altered"!!

You beat me to it, I haven't even gotten a chance to post about it here. We just started taking orders for the initial 10 6-speed kits. Most are already accounted for. You guys can read about them here and lock one down if you're interested:

https://kmiata.com/blogs/news/miata-...able-for-order

I expect these to ship in about two weeks. If you guys have questions just let me know.

Any solution for NA speedo and or holding a stock diff in place when converting?

Yes. Stock diff mount prototype is done, after making a few design changes. We are swapping a G260 trans into another car just so we can do some hard testing with this mount before we start machining more. Once we are 100% satisfied with the design I'll post up pictures and details. Shooting for next week.

Speedo solution is also moving along. I'll have an update on that soon too.

Any ideas if a taller shifter can be done with the pivot on the bolt down plate being a bit higher? (Ala UUC Erk)

Yes, a lot of BMW shifters could work with this setup, as long as you don't mind moving away from the Miata shifter height/throw/thread pitch. Initially we were using a stock BMW shifter until we sorted out the best geometry. If/when you're ready, just give me a ring and we can go over some options.

NA8 speedo solution is necessary for me. Revlimiter gauges are too nice to do away with.

I'm going to use a motor to drive the cable to the speedo on my swap using the signal from one of the abs sensors.

we're using a CAE shifter with the ZF 6 speed kit. We needed to extend the linkage a bit but its looking well!

The install didn't go too badly, however it took the best part of a day to modify the supplied clutch master to fit. And no diff mount still so can't test anything sadly.

For those who don't know, the install issue is due to this car being RHD. Were you guys able to make it fit? I'm working with V8R on getting a slimmer master cylinder that will fit better against the intake manifold in RHD cars.

Diff mounts are fully tested! Many burnouts and two track days with no issues. We are squaring away manufacturing details now. Initially these will only fit NB rear subframes, and it's possible we may only build them for NB subframes, so NA users would need to swap in a used rear subframe. Unfortunately the NA subframes and subframe braces don't play as well with a bolt-in mount. And in the case of the 1.6 cars, there aren't any subframe braces to begin with, which is an issue. Stay tuned for more details soon.

Side note - the lack of wheel hop with a BMW trans and our diff mount is pretty great. The PPF delete makes everything so much easier to work on too.

would be great seeing a vid or something showing the throw of the shifter with the 6 speed, also how much play there is in the shifter. i really like the short shifted mx5 6speed, and i dislike the "sloppy" feel of my daily bmw. but at 430+ whp i need to go bmw gearbox very soon also waiting for a solution for the NA speedo. pics of the NB rear diff mount would be cool too.cant be that difficult to adapt to a NA subframe? will cut and weld

FYI - the RHD clutch master issue. There is a Willwood part that is 1/3 shorter than that supplied that was pretty cheap.

I will try and look up the part number, it worked perfectly and was pretty reasonably priced...from memory $100 NZ, something like that.

Shoot me an email and we can send you a video. sales@kmiata.com

NA speedo solution is going to be the same as the V8 guys use. Dakota Digital electric to mechanical converter box. We just need to work out the details on our end.

NA and NB just have different subframe brace mount points, and the NB ones are located in a more favorable location. NA6 customers will need to swap subframes regardless, so they may as well go to NB, but making the NA8 subframes work is definitely a possibility.

Yup, we just learned about this. Email me the part number if you get a chance, I want to get one in the shop and check it out. We are looking at a Tilton unit too.

Here ya go, this is an example from SpeedAcadamy. They have a K swapped S14 that is using the KMiata trans upgrade. Keep in mind, they did modify it slightly for the shifter location, but I would assume the throw would be very similar.

Skip to 12:30 for the gear banging.
