Looking to dig up some opinions on older style JRZ coilovers

Promise I tried to search through the MT archives first, couldn't find any direct experiences just lots of general references to the company.

Was looking at picking these up used for a pretty decent price but wasn't positive about what the consensus on the single(?) adjustable version was, and I couldn't find the model on the JRZ or ISC websites (the latter of which I'm surprised they still even pay to host). It appears these have non-extended top-hats and no bump stops, which is odd as it was my understanding both would be recommended for dampers of this length. Springs on there are 2.5" by guesstimate and 800/300 by asking.

All of their retail sellers are located near major ports. Red flag

When a manufacturer says "each click makes a noticable difference " it's a red flag

JRZ is a very respected Dutch shock manufacturer. Of course, there are a lot of other variables (length, valving, condition) that go into how useful OP's set is.

Sorry, but those look like the springs were bought off of eBay. There is no tender spring, there is no bump stop, and it looks like those springs are simply going into OEM top hats. I don’t know The shocks, so I won’t comment there. However, I would not be picking those up unless they are for a very good price, AND the shocks aren’t blown.

Bumpstops may be internal, tender springs aren't necessary, oem hats are fine with proper length shocks.

Basically.... nobody in here knows things.

first im hearing of it. Giggle.
ive just never been a fan of loose springs clang bangin’ around when my suspension decompresses. Had cheap shit like that on my rally car once. It was fine, but made the coolest noise when smashing whoops on backroads. RIP top hats...

Differing platforms maybe, but the only time i've ever seen a spring unseat on a Miata is when it was levitating in the air on jackstands/lift. Simply doesn't happen in the real world with swaybars and the real world rebound effect.

This is good to know. I kinda wanna build a cheap, hack, off-road coilover system for the Miata so I can Paco my Miata in the winter. #freethesprings
