Miatas on Bags
I am thinking about getting into a miata but am into bags coming from my vw roots. Has anyone every bagged a miata and any insight or advice would help.
|
Ive never heard of this phenomenon.
|
If you figure it out please share the install and pics. I've been interested in this a while back but couldn't find compact bags that fit within the specs of the stock spring and shocks.
*edit* after research here's a link to a kit http://www.airbagit.com/product-p/fbs-maz-70-kit3.htm |
If you are planning on actually using the miata for what it was designed (driving) dont do bags. They are heavy and will never be as good as coilovers or springs/shocks. Miata is not a vw.
|
Oh my a miata running on three wheels.
|
|
Of course if you want your miata to be an extension of your sense of style then pop that kit on and run with it. Pics please. But if you are worried you won't be able to run flat out on a AutoX course with air bags then go traditional. More than anything please do what you want and post pics.
|
Airbagit has terrible products and I would use my own kit. As much as you guys think you will loose handling, if you use the correct things and know what you are doing you won't loose handling or comfort.

(...) More than anything please do what you want and post pics. Airbag suspension has been shown in clinical trials to increase the risk of heart disease, blood clots, and stroke. Women who are pregnant or nursing, or who may become pregnant, should not use airbag suspension. |

Go to the forums that "let people enjoy their cars" because this is a forum about turbocharging and not turning the car into a heap of shit, Holmes. You don't seem to understand punctuation or capitalization. |

I just bought a Z06 corvette. I was thinking about putting it on a 1978 Jeep CJ5 frame with a 6" suspension lift. What do you guys think? I think it would handle like an indy car!

Wow, for a bunch of guys who drive chick cars you guys have a bunch of hate. Unless you have every owned or drove a car on bags I think you can keep you comments to yourself. Maybe if you guys wouldn't act like asshole people might not make as much fun on your weak ass chick cars

If you don't like being here I'm sure one of our mods could help you resist the temptation of coming back if you ask them...or keep acting like a douche, that'd work to. Why is it that you're here again if Miata's are such "gay girly cars"? We act like assholes to keep the ricer fags away, you're more than welcome over at CR.net if being like the cars pictured above is your goal, when you want to make yourself some power and have a functional car AND stop being a bitch, you are more than welcome here.
I didn't act like a douche until other people did. I am not a ricer fag but thanks for trying. I don't know why you guys care so much. I'm not going to put some vinyls on it and shitty ass rims. I'll let you guys take care of that. Here are some of my old cars. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2594/...a029ca73_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3509/...c10ec9d9_b.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...a/HPIM3571.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...a/HPIM3580.jpg |

I'm not one to normally bash, but why in the hell is this crap thread on Miataturbo? Take it to CR. I'm sure you will get some bag nutswingers over there.

Don't mind all the haters. I happen to love Miatas on bags.

Got any dyno's, track day pictures, decent mod lists (with more performance than visual and stereo mods) anything other than typical rice boy photoshoot pictures of these cars?
Corrado is all stage 4 with a 1.9 tdi crank and custom pistons and rods. Also a fully rebuilt head with msd ignition 6 puck clutch and tons of other stuff. Subaru is stock and audi is getting fitted for a blower. Why do you guys think that everything needs a trackday? If you guys want to race nascar why don't you? I have no need to race my cars. I don't need to prove to everyone that I think that I am the next Jimmy Johnson. Unless you guys are hardcore drifters I would sell my "awesome miata" and buy something AWD. You guys also like calling everyone ricers. You drive tiny 2 door convertibles! look at yourself. |

I would have done so in your MeetnGreet intro thread, but it appears you never made one. You'll also notice we have a Useful Saved Posts section, which has a lot of FAQ, and info on all the topics this forum is about. I'm sorry, but you won't find airbag suspension in there. Enjoy your stay. |
I read your post to where you said it was "stage" something or other and quit, I give up.

See that I have a problem with. I don't care what you want to do to your Miata (although there are better forums for the slammed on bags stuff), but crapping up our forum and then planning on jetting sucks. You could have used a Google site search and quickly either found your answer, or realized we wouldn't have the expertise you were looking for....all without calling us names. Good luck at life. EDIT: Blatant disregard of forum etiqutte is a party foul, regardless of how cool you are on your side of the ISP. Forums only work when a collective abides by a set of rules and contributes. You are forum anarchy. |

(pictures of cars) You guys also like calling everyone ricers. You drive tiny 2 door convertibles! look at yourself. In all seriousness though, you've come to a forum called MiataTurbo. One has to assume from the name that a majority of the folks who congregate there have more than a passing interest in performance driving. Some of the folks here are in fact track rats, others of us dabble in the occasional autocross, but I'd wager that most simply enjoy driving a fast car to and from our job at the hair salon every day. The thing is, while "slammed" cars might have their place in the world, they're generally not associated with high-performance driving, be it in an oval, on the street, or a quarter mile at a time. For instance, when I think of all of the OEM applications in which airbag suspension is used, here's what I find: http://nycclassiclimo.com/images/200...arLOutside.jpg http://www.tc.gc.ca/media/images/roa...bus_e-bbtr.jpg http://www.asuperiormove.com/images/large_truck.jpg http://www.carxtreme.co.uk/images/Fi...home.old.1.JPG So you can see where our skepticism is founded, yes? An interesting question would be: in what racing series is airbag suspension commonly used? Yes, I know- you're not interested in racing. That's not the point, though. For me, it's a sort of litmus test. Whenever somebody proposes a nontraditional scheme to do "X", I like to ask myself "Are OEMs or serious race teams doing X?" See, if X works, and doesn't require cold fusion or room-temperature semiconductors, then one of those two groups will have already jumped on it. (Actually, the F1 teams would have jumped on it even if it did require cold fusion.) So, you identify for me which automobile racing series tend to favor airbag suspension, and I think you'll start to see why you've been greeted the way you have. :bigtu:

Go ask on SCCAForums....or maybe roadraceautox.com
And you are the reason I think VW owners are a bunch of retarded morons. People like you hold them up like your shit don't stick and that having staggered wheels on a FWD car with 205 on a 10" wide rim is cool. But i'm sure you'll come back slinging how having proper fitting wheels with wide tires and going to the track is useless and a waste of time  Yeah..because sports cars were all made to run fucking ovals....dumbass. Have fun over on CR. |

With those 2 major sources of innovation pushed aside there really isn't any other arena where new or old ideas can be repositioned in the market other than the aftermarket. Then lets not forget that any idea which goes against the norm is blasted by purists who feel that the old ways are better. This holds as true for auto mags as it does for forums. Lets not forget that using turbo charges on gasoline engines was a new concept before WW2 even though they had been invented in 1908. Hell the first production turbo charged car didn't come till the 60's and look at what innovation has followed since those early days. Sorry to ramble but it's a well studied fact in the field of computer mediated communications, that new ideas in forums are always flamed at first for a number of reasons. After this break-in period, if the person follows through and shares experience it will gain some measure of acceptance over time. Who knows, this person or someone like him may revolutionize maita performance airbag suspensions. *Edit* maybe not. |
Miata, VW, etc, the gayness of a street car with an inch of clearance is lost on me.

a simple search would've told you wether or not this was the forum for you.
you could stay and maybe learn a thing or two about how miatas arent a hairdressers car, and that it has one of the best suspension systems developed in a production car sold to the general public? if you want airbags, get a lexus ls400. they have them stock. |
why banned? WHY BANNED???!!!

why not. I foresee no use for someone gung-ho on slammage. He should post in here: The Slammed Thread. - ClubRoadster.net or The moderately slammed thread, not to be confused with show us your dropped miata or slammed thread. - ClubRoadster.net or Slammed guys, how do you jack up your car? - ClubRoadster.net or Living with a slammed Miata. - ClubRoadster.net |
Aw, hell. I was just getting warmed up. :giggle:
|
My daily driver is an LS400 with air bag suspension. Driving it is sort of like going down the road on your living room couch. It's comfortable, quiet and boring. Handling is marshmellow non existent. It suits the Lexus, but their is no way I would want any part of this system on my Miata. It's the exact opposite of performance handling.
