I know a guy who could make you some new bushings.

Alright alright... Get a (chat) room you two....

I haven't tried tightening anything yet. I will hopefully this weekend get the chance to get it up in the air with better weather and tighten anything I find tighten...able.

On another note, the car still did remarkably well on Toyo RA1s this weekend, again. I would have held second, but two cars snuck past me in the afternoon after it got sunny and dried up. Stinking thing never fails to impress me... .

Alright, put her up in the air, started checking bolts. Subframe bolts, good.
I wasnt aware that camber is adjusted by the lca via eccentric. On the 944 is at the bottom of the strut, so the clunk has a different behavior.
Point is, one of the four camber bolts on the front was loose. Clunk gone.
Thanks to those of you who threw out ideas! Sorry for doubting any, the result of that issue on the 944 is the knuckle not being pinched, leaving slop on the direction of camber. This was all snug, except under hard maneuver.

If you drive hard on a Miata the camber bolts should be over torqued to ~80 ft lbs to prevent them from rotating. You can do this for a few alignments, but the bolts eventually become consumables.

on another note, while I have you all here... when lifting throttle just slightly, not enough to engine brake really, I get a farting noise from the front of the car. Its possible its the bearing in the turbo I suppose, but its the only symptom I have. sound fartmiliar to anyone?

I mean.... Farts are very characteristic of an individuals diet, crack hairiness, size of cheeks and butthole...

So i have no idea what you are hearing when you say fart noise.

had a very similar clunk. my car has new poly bushings all around and new eccentric bolts. everything was tight. i was leaning towards the hub bearing. i got in there with a crow bar and noticed the sway bar was the culprit. someone had used a slightly smaller than the hole diameter bolt, and the bar would ever so slightly shift and clunk at very random times (hard braking, lifting a wheel, etc) just check every connection at the front suspension, its not too hard.
