Parts for diff swap

I'm looking for a full set of parts to swap an OBX diff into a Miata carrier.

I had no problem finding the axle bearings and the oil seals, but I've had a devil of a time finding the crush collars for a 94-05 however.

Weir Performance - Solid Pinion Spacer Kits are the only place I've successfully located a purchaseable set. Where the heck do you source them normally?

Where these crush collar needs to be installed when swapping an OBX diff into a miata carrier ?

I am currently doing this job and the only parts that I need are the oil seals and the axle bearings (part# NTN 4T-32008X), am I missing something ?

you dont need the crush collar, or weir pinion spacer. you should not be removing the pinion unless your are changing the pinion bearings. If thats the case then you might be be opening up a can of worms. The bearing could change the pinion depth and you would need to reset that based on contact pattern.

I would leave the pinion alone and just get the carrier bearings and seals, put the diff in, set backlash and preload and be done. Odd's are the diff is gonna let go before the pinion bearings will

Ok thanks, that's exactly what i've done so far, rebuilt the OBX with new belleville washers, new bolts, and remove the old diff without touching the pignon :

Are people using new bolts to fix the ring to the LSD ? Or everyone reuse the existing bolts ?

Thks

I'm swapping to a 3.9 or 3.6 R&P as well, ladies.

I kind of have to swap all the things. ALL THE THINGS!

You are welcome

Thats a horse of a diffrent color!

Im doing a full diff rebuild right now as well,

i bought my pinion bearings, pinion seal, diff bearings, and axle seals all from jim ellis mazda parts.
total for those were $275 ish

I just got a 3.636 ring and pinion through racingbeat for $500.50
and i got the weir performance distance piece.

your gonna need a beam or dial type torque wrench to check pinion rotational torque, and yellow lead to check contact patern. Also a 7-8" micrometer to set differential preload. You can buy a tool from mazda to calculate pinion spacer size, im just gonna reuse mine and check contact then adjust as needed.
