Source for power steering delete tensioner
So, while I was a googlin' I did find myself staring at a brand new Mazda 1.8L power steering delete pulley. Now, most of you know that part number BP01-15-930 has been discontinued and marked NLA. But did you know that the 94-97 Kia Sephia could come with A/C and without P/S as an option? The part number is 0K201-15-930, and my local dealer told me it was available as a special order at $80 something list. It looks like it is available from most Kia Parts Direct-type web stores at around ~$65. I didn't want to shim my A/C compressor, and now I don't have to.

Props for useful information.

Wow, awesome. Post up pics when you get it!
|
Check the useful saved threads section for my thread about not using a tensioner pulley on the A/C.

Be sure to update with post-installation pictures please!

Ooooh. Shiny new parts.
I'm going the Sixshooter route myself. Picked up 4 M8x100 bolts today with a handful of washers. Under $10 with tax. AC isn't missing mission critical. I can deal with having to reshim four bolts if/when the belt squeals. |
I only needed to shim two of the bolts. Depending upon washer thickness, four is a lot of additional tension. You'll see when you do it. Just like with the alternator belt, it only needs to be as tight as necessary to eliminate slippage. Too much tension will load the front main bearing to one side when tightening either of the belts and create excess wear and drag.

Thanks for the information. Mine was delivered yesterday. Off to go remove power steering...
|
Looks like you're going to beat me to installation! My power steering delete is going in with my NB engine/subframe swap, which is about a month out at this point.
|
Just to be clear.... this is to delete power steering, but KEEP A/C, right?
|
Yes! This allows you to tension the A/C belt without having the power steering pump.
|
Very good. I like. Many props given.

I called a local parts shop and gave them that part number. They told me it's for the pulley only and not the bracket to mount it to the car. What website were you guys getting the whole assembly from?

Dunno. Have you tried plugging it into google? The first result totally isn't the entire assembly for $63 + shipping. |
This is a dealer part number. Aftermarket interchange numbers will only consist of the pulley with bearing, as 90% of the time that's all that needs to be replaced. Only the dealer (or online dealer store) will have the whole assembly.

This is incredible. Great find, really helpful to the whole community. :)
