Torsen axles assembly question
2 Attachment(s)
Changing out from a 1991 open diff to a 95? torsion diff in a Kit car. I haven't seen a normal torsion install but this isn't look right, the gap from seal to axle is over 1/2 inch. the outside ends of the axle fit up fine. I used white grease to lube on the install. The previous axles were not lengthened so I don't understand how the distance could be wrong. Any help appreciated.

Nope keep pushing till the snap ring engages.

Thanks, should I use a heavy sledge padded by wood block ? Or is just getting the right straight angel ? I had met my comfort level in trying to get them earlier.

its together just supported axle for a straight push and a slight tap with a "larger " hammer thanks

You should be able to push them in without a hammer.

You are using the 95 axles in the 95 diff correct? Not trying to use the 91 axles in the 95 diff? |
It worked with a heavy sledge and padded with wood on the axle, most of the problem is inexperience but having the car up on roller stands and it weighing 1000 lbs less than a miata, the car was moving while I was pushing so it needed a little rap to push in.
After a half year stall I'm back working on the car. Now to finish up welding the turbo exhaust manifold, cooling, etc. Too much life put the car on hold it was supposed to take 30 days. All those days of driving fun I'm missing. |
