Default Transmission Rebuild Literature

Is there any online publications or links to an FSM of sorts that brings you completely through the teardown and rebuild of the '99-05 Miata 6-spd Aisin gearboxs? I've got one on the way to me tomorrow and I need some assistance in the rebuild. The FSM has always allowed me to do anything.

Thanks much guys

The 6 speed had its own rebuild manual. You'll have to source it, I've never seen links to it anywhere. You can probably just order it from finishline.

Damn, thanks for the quickest response to a question that I have EVER posted on ANY forum.

Own manual you say? The FE shares the same Aisin box and I have links to that FSM online but it only covers the removal/installation. That probably has it's own book as well. Perhaps I can coax the local Mazda dealership that I have a good relationship with to let me copy it? Worth asking before I call up Finishline or order it from the local dealership or MazdaMotorsports. I bet it's not cheap.

Anyway, thanks again.

Library if all else fails. The one here has every factory service manual I've ever wanted to find.

It's downloading right now. Thanks so much man! I really appreciate it. Saves me an incredible headache of copying pages. That's awesome, really really thank you.

Brothers. I am bumping this fine thread because I am disappointed.

Why you ask?

I am highly disappointed that the fine FSM literature for our vehicles, is a ******* joke. Its one thing that the manuals are rather plain and lack detail, that I can accept and deal with.. its understandable. What I cannot deal with however, is how Mazda is selling multiple FSMs a la carte. We have the MAIN manual, which covers general repair. We have a separate manual for the MOTOR, and a separate manual for the TRANSMISSION. Jesus ******* christ, its times like this when I really have regrets for buying a MAZDA.

So now, I already have a copy of the 1999 FSM. And, I already have a copy of the 99-05 Engine FSM. What I need is, a copy of the TRANSMISSION FSM. Does anyone have a copy that you can share? Please post.

Mazda sucks even more ***** because the engine FSM is "NO LONGER AVAILABLE." Seriously Mazda, its not hard to print a pamplet.. religious nuts print flyers and brochures all the time. Worse, the Mazda literature appears to be printed on toilet paper. At least thats what it felt like when I wiped my *** with it...??? :-)

Thanks
Mike

Have you tried the Library yet? I've rebuilt a 90-93 5 speed, 2 700-R4s, 727 Torqueflite, 2 46REs, 10&12 bolt GM rear end, Chrysler 9.25, Chrysler 8.75, ford 9", a Dana 44 quick disconnect and installed a MS2 and EDIS8 on a 4th gen camaro all with reference material from the library.

If you can't find one online, I would check it out and see what they have. You might get lucky and find what your looking for.

Absolutely serious.

Maybe not the actual Mazda version but the 3" thick $200 Chiltons that the shops use with complete teardown, inspection, overhaul and rebuild with all the specs and excerpts directly from the FSM. I didn't believe it either, until I saw it with my own eyes.

Actually, if memory serves me correctly, the manual for the Miata was the FSM, I believe the others were the Chiltons.

Granted, all Libraries are not the same, I'm in a large Metro area with some huge libraries. Only one way to know for sure, call them and find out.

It is your lucky day. Here is a link to the 6 speed manual. I had it saved to my laptop.
