Default Rear Lower Shock Bolt - Need some help

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to remove the rear shock to replace the bumpstops, but I got a problem. The weldnut on the rear lower control arm has broken, and the lower shock bolt is just spinning. Anyone have a good solution?

Thanks for the help.

this **** happens all the time. Take some pliers and enlarge the hole in the lower control arm where that weldnut is. Use a big screwdriver and a hamer to move the broken metal tab holding the nut out of the way. An 18mm open end wrench should be able to hold the nut while undoing the bolt.

Most likely a dumb question, but, can I reuse the LCA if just use a bolt/nut combo?

that's what we did on a spec car. Torque appropriately and you should be good to go

Sure. I think it's only a captured nut to begin with to aid in assembly line installation.
