what are my upgrade options?
ive been driving on the highway more often for school and driving at higher speeds i dont like the feel of my stopping power.
what are my options for getting more bite/better braking? Would simply changing the pads be good enough? what kind of calipers can i swap from other cars that will be a boost in performance from the stock 1.8 setup. i dont want to spend alot of money on brand new brake kits because im not gona track this car. |
Dude..............

Go to Napa, buy new pads. The stock 1.8 brakes are plenty.

He'll want more than Napa pads. Something in the HP+ or RS4s range.

When did you change your fluid last? What pads are on the car now? I bet you know neither...lol

I hate people who brake on the highway, just keep going

also, i hate advisory signs on highways, they cause more traffic than anything else. next to you are in traffic, ask yourself, "is there a road sign up ahead" when you pass the sign that simply says something like "traffic ahead" suddenly, there is no longer traffic. |

New mazda pads and stainless brake lines might give you what you want. The stock pads will lock up the wheels without any trouble, and the stainless lines should firm up the pedal a little. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

I agree with Brain on the Hawk HP+ (not HPS) all the way around.
|
+1 to HP+. Though in my experience, they squeal like a motherfucker. Every set I've had.

The op needs to know to do the bedding-in process with great attention to detail. Do not deviate from the directions about proper cooldown IMMEDIATELY after getting them bedded-in. |

I didn't have that problem yet.

I like my Akebono pads from Advance Auto, they do a nice job.
