Been looking around and i think i'm going to start off with some coil overs don't know what brand yet.. I'm new at this so any recommendations will be accepted.

Amellrotts 05-02-2013 08:59 PM

The Racelands I had were great!

18psi 05-02-2013 09:02 PM

Yeah, get racelands. Basically the best suspension out there

Again i don't know what the fuck your trying to tell me. Your like a little kid.

Being ignorant about what? I ask a question you answer. Simple as that. Don't get the question ask a question to my question maybe that'll help.

Dot3 05-02-2013 09:24 PM

Shut up now.

Another idiot. It's obvious I've searched. Reason why i'm asking here.
"WHAT SUSPENSION WOULD YOU RECOMMEND ON GETTING FOR A DAILY DRIVE"

-.-.... Seriously got the most annoying ------s who can't reply with a simple answer.

"hey bud these tokico's are good"... I get this fucking grammar nazzi's......

dieselmiata 05-02-2013 09:28 PM

I guess I'll say it since Captain Oblivious doesn't seem to get it.

Quit asking stupid questions. If you had done even a small search you wouldn't have to ask. No one here wants to spoon feed you answers to ideas that have been covered and answered ad nauseum.

And yes, you're spelling and grammar are a direct reflection of your character and intelligence. As long as you come across as a mouth breathing driftard and will be treated as such.

First their are no stupid questions. I've done research and again i'm asking for a recommendation since this is a miata club. Learn from experience right?.....

IF it has been covered post a fucking link to it. Simple as that. Don't gotta be a douche about it.

Just placing the word "Coilovers" in the search bar brings up 156 threads dedicated to just that. You just want to be spoonfed. And you have the audacity to come here and start making demands as if you are the admin around here.

"I ask a question, you answer. Simple as that".

No, it's not that simple. No one knows who the fuck you are, and more importantly no one cares.

*Good catch BTMiata, thanks.

dieselmiata 05-02-2013 09:47 PM

Look, you haven't stated your goals. Are you racing the car, or just commuting? The only information you gave us to go from is that you live around potholes. My recommendation for that would be to avoid coilovers alltogether, and replace the factory suspension with OEM replacement parts. Any coilover is likely to give you a harsher ride on rough streets.

If you want a serious answer, you must provide context.

What color is the bear?

dieselmiata 05-02-2013 09:51 PM

It's a commuter. 1995 Mx-5, Red.
Goal is to have a nice grip on the ground and looks.
I live in Los angeles, CA.
I don't mind having a rough ride as long as it performs well.
Now here is the question i asked at first. From experience(you guys);reason i came here. What parts would you upgrade first? Brand, sites you'd come across that gives good deals?

I've found a bunch of crap but then again i wouldn't want to just buy. I'd rather ask before purchasing.

Amellrotts 05-02-2013 09:59 PM

For the record, the thing I liked best about my Racelands is when I sold them! I made money on them. They were on my car for about an hour. Search Raceland coil overs and you will see what others think of them and how long they last. Like others have said, you will get out of this forum what you put into it. You really didn't give us any useful information but want us to be able to give you great answers about how you should set up your car.....not really fair to us is it? My suspension will be very much different then most others, but if you tell me what you are looking for I can at least give you some educated advice about what you should consider. If you ask what tires you should get, I will say the round ones.....Do you want maximum MPGs, most cornering ability, wet conditions, longevity, WHAT????? BTW, I love my RE11's for all round service as a daily driver tire (so does my wife).

Amellrotts 05-02-2013 10:02 PM

You mentioned the cost is a concern, what is your budget? I have a nice set of Bilstein's from a 10AE with 58K on them I would sell for $350 that would prolly make you very happy. Lets be clear though, a custom set of Fat Cat shocks will certainly do what you want, for about $2000.

Amellrotts 05-02-2013 10:16 PM

I recommend a used set of Bilsteins......look for some on the left coast. I believe it may raise your ride an RCH and if that is a deal breaker then look for a set with CG sleeves. Since you said looks are important to you the stock ride height may not work, only you can decide.....good luck.

Pinky 05-02-2013 10:18 PM

MiataTurbo has a special section just for questions like yours, and posters like you, they even keep it at it's own URL to make it easy to find without having to do advanced and complicated things like using the Search box.

Just type ClubRoadster.net into your browser. it's kinda like the All Star section of MiataTurbo. Like, only the really experienced and knowledgeable folks get told about it usually, but since all these mean trolls have been so rough on you I'm gonna break the rules and give you the scoop.

Mods- please don't ban me for letting this guy go VIP so early in his MT life; I just figure he seems like a solid bro and he'll really fit in well up there in the ClubRoadster Temple Of Pure Thought.

Oh, and listen OP, when you get over there, just tell them you have your Racelands already; it'll get you instant Cred points. Tell them you have some hellaflush XXR wheels too; trust me, it'll be worth the little white lie to "fit in" more easily.

karter74 05-02-2013 10:20 PM

No new suspension setups have come out that haven't already been discussed before now. No need for links.

Sure you wanna focus on coilovers right now when it appears your car is in need of other items first?

Dot3 05-02-2013 10:22 PM

I thought this was the VIP forum.

Dude. It is so completely obvious that you DIDN'T search. Here's what the question looks like if you've searched:

"Hey all, I am looking to upgrade my suspension. I know Racelands have a bad rap but they fit my budget. I am also looking at ________. I have read some experiences people have had with them individually, but I haven't found anyone who has owned both. Has anyone owned/driven both setups that can give me some feedback?"

You ask a question like that, you get a decent answer. You ask your thoughtless stupid question that you asked, you get trolled. there ARE stupid questions. This isn't your damned liberal high-school sex education class.

Edit to add info: My car has racelands on it from the guy who set the car up, who, for what it's worth, is 18psi. They're not really terrible, they get you your coilovers for stance, you can drop them for shows and raise for driving. They're not very comfortable. They really don't handle particularly well. For a DD I don't need anything better, but my next car will definitely have different suspension on it. I would go for those used Bilsteins.

2ndGearRubber 05-02-2013 10:37 PM

flier129 05-03-2013 12:25 PM

To do list:
#1 = 15x9s, your choice of color: 15x9 6UL Wheels
#2 = Tires, 225/45/15 RS3/Rival or 205/50/15 ZII : Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels
#3 = suspension Xidas(AST) : SuperMiata BGK
#4 = brakes carbotech pads, your choice if you want larger calipers Miata Big Brake Kits
#5 = exhaust, RB header, whatever cat-back you want: 949 Racing - Exhaust - Header

Drive it, learn, then add more power later if you want.

thenuge26 05-03-2013 12:33 PM

Dude you don't need coilovers. You gotta git that shit LOW son. Just take out your stock shocks and springs and let them tires RUB!

Fortunately you didn't specify the unit of measure, so that gives us a bit of leeway.

500 Kuwaiti Dinar is *almost* enough to get you into a XIDA Club Sport coilover package or a nice FatCat custom-valved Bilstein package (an early prototype of these shocks have been on my car for about six years. Quite nice.)

Moving down a slight notch, you could easily afford a Tein Flex coilover system, which is entirely adequate for everyday tooling around on the street, and you'll still have a bit of cash left in your pocket to hire a male prostitute to pour Pepto Bismol over your toes while you masturbate to pornographic depictions of the characters from My Little Pony.

Beyond that, there's not much of value to be had. You could go with something like a set of Tein Basics or FM's "classic" V-maxxxxxxx coilovers, and while the hard-core guys here will mock you for it, you'll probably consider them to be just fine until you have a chance to drive on something better. Anything cheaper than this is, quite honestly, not going to be much of an improvement over 20 year old blown stock dampers on stock springs.

You really think so? I'm pretty sure you just asked a couple stupid questions asking to be spoon fed and since everyone refused to do it, you think they're all breads. Serisouly: if you had asked a decent question you would have merited a decent answer.

There is awesome information here, and in reality this is possibly the most knowledgeable forum anywhere, but you have to work a bit harder for the info or be a good searcher.

Hey, since I got "Avatar'ed And Feathered", do I get to do it to someone else now?

I'd like to suggest this for our new Brony Mrvalles91:

flier129 05-05-2013 01:33 PM

Support a miata vendor, like Good-Win-Racing:

Miata Suspension - Shocks - Mazda Performance Parts

Please note Koni sports won't take anything at/over 450lbs/in springs for too long, especially on the street. A common setup is to run Koni "race" in the front, with ~450-700lbs/in springs. Then they run the standard Koni "sport" shock in the rear with a comparable spring-rate(250-400lbs/in).

I mainly lurk on here for the same reasons as you've found out. If you want good info you need to know who to ask and just ignore the "racers" with their GT wings and stock power. Too busy wanting to be Paul Walker and too pussy to even drive on the street.

Send a pm to Torks. He's got more experience than most nearly everyone on this site and is humble enough to give you good advice. He doesnt post too often because retards on here dont even know how to overfill the cylinder with high comp pistons lol
