Wheel wobble. bent rim or something else? Best place to get TD pro race 2 wheel?
I bought hub from napa $56. I just need to remove the knuckle and take it to get everything press out and in. Hopefully tonight I will get the knuckle off the car, but that has been the plan for the last two nights. I'm good at it now, so it shouldn't take too long.
what do u mean get it pressed? the hub slidea in onto the axle then the nut screws in. the bearing is the only thing that neds to get pressed. once my hub got pressed out it goes on easy
Well, I don't really know how the hub fits in with the bearing and knuckle. I just know that I couldn't get it apart. I took the nut off, pulled the axle out, and had a knuckle with a firmly attatched hub. Is there a snap ring in there that holds the hub in the knuckle?
no that just needs to get pressed out from the back. once mine was off, i cleans the groves with a wire brush on the axle and the hub. after u clean it it should slide on as u screw on the nut.
i dont think a hub would mess the bearing up, mine was pressed in a few months ago but i can tell the noise is def coming from the b rakes since i push teh brake and the noise goes away. im probably gona buy a new hub from napa, cheapest ive seen.
Well, there is absolutely a C-clip that holds the hub in the knuckle. I just pushed it passed the C-clip. Unfortunately the bearing came apart. That was $40 bucks wasted. I'm kinda annoyed at the place for not checking the hub before it was pressed in.
On the flipside, that's the downside of being specific when you want work done. My wife said I should have told them that my wheel wobbles and handed them the parts telling them to figure it out.
I went there and said that I had a wheel wobble, press in a new bearing and rebuild the axle if necessary. I just kinda figured they would check everything.
Tomorrow I'll get a new bearing pressed in and have it all assembled. The hub comes with a new axle nut, that's a plus.

New hub fixed my problem. Moral of this story. If you can't tell if it's the hub or the bearing. Change both. Hub $56 and bearing $40. The chances of reusing a new bearing if you then find out its the hub, are slim, because they apparently like to separate when you pull the hub.
I love threads that start with a problem, contain a good mix of troubleshooting and eventually end up with a solution to the problem at hand.
Kudos to this forum for being good about that ****.
