Default Winter mode - NB springs on NA bilsteins?

my friend has a 1993 miata imported from japan. it came with bilstein shocks (i assume the bilstein NA shocks) and some random springs. the car sits too low and is FAAARRR too stiff.

we have found NB springs locally, and are trying to figure out if they will work on his current shocks.

since the car is being used for winter, we want it as high and soft as possible.

I've found that soft isn't as ideal for winter as I had thought. Sure, it's less likely to break your teeth, but you will bottom out on frost heaves more often ride on the bump stops too much.

No, they won't work as-is, but there is a company that sells the parts needed to do it. Why not just throw some stock NA springs on it?
