for you 8.8 rear people
I've been tossing ideas for an 8.8 rear swap with otherwise stock miata drivetrain. Not sure if it's been done (haven't really searched) but I do know that some guys who put the 8.8 in Camaros end up welding torque arm (PPF) mounts to the housing. I've also considered fabbing a traditional transmission crossmember in place of the PPF...

Enjoy crunched 2.5" exhaust if you plan to put it past the diff.
You can do a solid axle swap. Hyper did one and he's got this Miata thing down.
Do a 7.5" or V8R's CTS diff swap.
