Scion FRS
#32
Really, I want to like this car. I agree about the fanbois and the straight-billed-hat crowd ruining all of them, and it's unfortunate. There will be those owners that bought it (the Scion or the Subaru version) for the right reasons, though, and I think it's those guys who'll get their money's worth.

I'm talking more about the other ---- boxes sporting the Scion name. I'm not saying the FR-S will be junk, in fact I think it will be win. But in the end I would still have to say I own a Scion, which I cannot do.
There are plenty of things wrong with Scion:
1. They aim for the generation of car owners that cares only about how cool neon lights and horribly sounding fart cans are.
2. They make FWD "sports" cars.
3. They took the soul away from Toyota. They have not had a true sports car since the MR-S.

If I cared what people thought of me when I said what car I owned, I wouldn't be driving a Miata, and I would be missing out on driving a great little sportscar.
That's kinda how I feel about the FR-S. IF it is really good, there will be that small circle of car buffs who understand what the car is, and understand that it doesn't matter that its got a Scion badge here in the US.
At least 2 out of your 3 gripes are addressed with the FR-S.
Do I think Scion is an awful marketing ploy to get younger drivers into Toyotas? Absolutely.
Do I think it would stop me from buying a potentially great little Toyota sports car just because of that? Not really. I'm just happy they decided to offer it in the states at all. If it wasn't for the Scion brand over here, they probably wouldn't have.

Nah I think if Scion wasn't here we would still have rwd sports cars made by toyota. I mean look at the amazing awesomeness they had back in the late 80s and 90s.
I don't care that other people would know I drive a scion... I would care that I know I drive a Scion. I get made fun of everyday at work because of my Miata. And told to buy a real car/mans car/etc...
