I saw one direct comparison of the sm7 take offs to the wider RC1. Seems like they are actually comparable grip wise and obviously last longer.

I can get SM7's for roughly 200$ a set and get 2 to 3 days which works out to 8 to 12 heat cycles, out of them before they cord. One issue is I can get them greasy after 5 to 10 laps with 250whp and 2450 on track weight.

The question is could I expect similar grip and 25 to 35 heat cycles but more temperature tolerance out of a 245 RC1?

I'm also planning to increase power to 350whp or more and was hoping the RC1 would be economical alternative to the SM7'S.

You're looking for an economical alternative to used tires for 350whp?

That was my take. Doesn't make sense.

Come on now I'm crazy for considering anything but brand new 1200$ a set 245 hoosiers?

Just trying to maximize my dollar on track, I'm just a HPDE bum and I'm not necessarily concerned with the fastest tire but it'll get a bit dicey trying to put that kind of power down through RS4'S

Found a used set cheap enough to give them a try. 205 sm7 mounted on a 9" wheel for comparison. 245 RC1 is unmounted.

Necrothread, but has anyone mounted a 225 RC1 on a 10" wheel, or is that too much stretch? I haven't been able to find any pics in this thread or on the trackable miatas FB page

My car will need 15x10ET25 wheels for fitment purposes, but I'm considering competing in a series that limits tire sizes top 225 for cars under 2550lbs.

I stand to be corrected, but I can't see a 225 on a 10" being feasible or at least safe. Unless it is a VERY wide fitting 225.

Although the stance guys probably do worse

205s on a 9" wheel is the norm here for CA track miatas with <150hp, so I'm hopeful that 225s on a 10 isn't going to be too insane. If it is, I'm going to have to figure out a pretty crazy spacer situation to get fitment correct on 9" wheels

Edit: This is specifically for the RC-1, which has a listed section width of 9.1"

Edit 2: Nvm, I'm just gonna run spacers with a 225 on a 9
