Pardon my ignorance... Where is the order page? It just gives me the option to locate a dealer (then only lets me search for dealers of their bicycle tires) or view specs -- no spot to order. ??

I'm probably alone in this boat but I got teh 245/40-15 RC-1 for my 15x9 to replace my old, dry, and worn RS-3 in 225/45. I did this mostly for straight line grip, as well as for the corners. Been very happy with how they work on the street, very comfy and quiet and grippy. I can actually get 2nd gear rolling traction, before it was more like 3rd gear rolling burnouts.

Finally had an opportunity to try these suckers out on my 944 last weekend at TGPR.
225's on a 15x7 Porsche cookie cutter wheel. 2700 lbs car with driver, Koni single adjustables and Weltmeister sway bars all around. First laps were on a set of cycled out R6's, and were 1/2 second faster than my personal best last year. Put the RC1's on after cording the Hoosiers, and holy shit... Tire grips VERY well cold. Had full confidence in them after only a single warmup lap and began leaning on them immediately. They tended to build tire pressures up quickly and more so than some other R comp tires. It was a fairly cool day, but I picked up 12 psi on the right side of the car, and even after pressures stabilized, I was still picking up 10 psi during a run. First few session laps were consistently fastest. I found them to perform best in my setup with very little discernible difference in the 30-36 lbs hot range, and lap times reflected that. They noticeably started to push around 38 psi. Turn in is not as good as fresh Hoosiers, but very respectable, and I thought a tad better than NT01's. I think peak grip also trumped NT01s by a slight margin. Breakaway was very predictable - incredibly easy to drive at the limit, and they gave some audible warning. End result before I scattered my motor all over the track was 2.5s/lap over a 1.4 mile course quicker than my take off R6's, which I could never get hot enough to function effectively at any of the tracks I run. For $145/ea shipped, they are at the top of the pile in their segment IMO. I'll be making them my tire of choice on both cars moving forward. |
So for those of us on 15x10, is the RC-1 still the best tire to go with for track use, before stepping up to the Hoosier? My appeal with the RC-1 is I can drive it on the road in the dry, and can take it to the track with the car and not change tires. Hoosiers would make a second set of street wheels a must, and Hoosiers get expensive considering their cost and lifespan.
My RC-1 will make it to the end of this season for sure, perhaps a bit after that, but if there is a 225 tire that can outperform and outlive the RC-1 (other than a hoosier), I may have to step back to a 15x9 |
I was faster on 225's on 15x9's then I have been this year on the RC-1 on 15x10's, I think the Nitto's are stickier.

I HIGHLY doubt you'll find a car that outperforms AND outlives the RC-1. Its tread pattern (or lack thereof) is good for life and for grip, so if you go with anything else it should give up something to the RC1 in one trait or another I would think.
VR-1 is a nice option for down the road, but I'd be really surprised if it was faster than an equivalent RC-1, surprised in a bad way lol |
Look at tread compound. The RC-1 is not a super soft-compound tire. It's supposed to give excellent performance while still being durable. It might not be faster than an NT-01, but it'll outlast an NT01 by a considerable margin from what I've heard.
