What makes you think it's a 5mm difference?
Aspect ratio is a percentage of width.
245/40 = sidewall height of 40% of 245mm, or 98mm.
245/45 = sidewall height of 45% of 245mm, or 110.25mm
Every Miata on a 23" race tire polishes the top of the fender and shock tower. Adding 12mm to that will cause some very serious interference issues which cannot easily be solved.
