Some of you may be deciding between the 6UL variants so I though I'd post these images to show the differences. Exact same car. Just jacked it up and swapped wheels. All inflated to 30psi.

The Hankook RS3 is a 140 treadwear. :) Though, I wouldn't want to drive that compound in cold temperatures.

I've driven mine in 40ish degree temps without any issues. I went from Azenis (RT-215's) to the RS-3's and while the Azenis were wildly different in cold temps, the RS3's you can tell but it's not a dramatic difference.

throw some snow tires on them :)

Looks like the ship date has been pushed back till December. Any idea when they might come in? I'm looking to order some 15x8's and would like to know if they are gonna be here this year

Ship date for current production run of 15x8 & 15x9 has not changed since first posted on site and are right on schedule. 15x7 & 15x7.5 6UL were delayed almost 6 months but finally completed last week. Best to contact us directly for latest details as forum posts are only current for the one day. |
I love my 15x8's with 225's car loves them too.

Big thanks to Emilio for special delivery late last night of our 6ul shipment. Getting my first look at the new 15x7.5 6UL today and I must say it is another home run....easy to predict that this will be THE WHEEL on all the fast STS class autocross cars this year!
|
Do I understand correctly that with 225 tires, 15x9's are faster than 15x8?

Yes....15x9 faster for autocross or track thanks to more stable contact patch, more ultimate grip from the same size tire. |

General rule of thumb (my rule): For maximum performance from radials, choose wheel width at least as wide as tire section width. Ignore bead width, tread width and manufacturers (lawyers) recommendations. |

205's and 225's are about the same when mounted on a 7" rim Go to an 8" rim and 225's are better. Go to a 9" rim and the performance increase from 8 to 9 is even more than the jump from 7 to 8 with the 225's. Bob |

Thanks for being able to switch my order to nickle also ;) |
So if 15x8's with 225 tires don't rub on my 2000 without fender rolling, does it mean that the same tires on 15x9's won't rub as well? If they will, how is that so? The tire tread is located in the same place in space... or does it rub on the sidewalls near the rim's inside lip at full lock?

I wonder how many times I've typed that. |
Emilio, do you have any pictures on file of a 225 50 15 on a 15x9 on an NA. Im having a hard time finding some fitment pics. Im only looking at a 50 series tire because I have a line on 225 50 15 V710s for $65 each. Once they wear out Ill go to a 225 45.

2 Attachment(s)
They're really big.
Attachment 191761 Attachment 191762 And check the tire size and gearing calculators to see if you really want to do it. |
I think gearing should be fine since Im running a 4.4 final drive with a 5 sp. If anything larger tire size will be kind of like going with a longer final drive.
