Default Anyone looking for 225/45/15 RS3s?

I had a hell of a time finding a set. If you want a set right now, send me a PM. I found the last three available sets in the USA.

So, my 15x8" 6ULs should be coming in the next week or two and I am going to need tires. I had originally bought the x8" expressly for the ability to run the 225/45-15 R-S3s which are still on back-order with no ETA.

Meanwhile, 205/50-15 Star Specs are available with an $80 rebate.

Should I leave the car parked on jackstands until the R-S3s become available or spring for the smaller, discounted Dunlops?

I got the 8's for this very reason. I am running 205/50/15 RE-11's. If you fell comfortable with a slight decrease in performance or will not be doing much racing (autox/track) then you will be fine.

I'm already pissed that a lot of people i'm autoxing with have 15x9 (TR C3) with the RS3s. There is an advantage. But it is also fun being the underdog now where as 3 years ago my car was the one to have.

I put 205/50-15 DZ101s on my last set of 15x8's, and they looked like Volkswagen-esque stretchy butthole herrafrush gayness. Just saying.

The 205/50-15 Toyo R1Rs are wide enough not to look absurd on 8's, but I don't know if you can find those in teh states, either...

The RE-11's run wide. Just a tad stretch. No STANCED YO look.

As opposed to the Star Spec which are showing "in stock" (specifically, at the Georgia warehouse).

Are you seeing something different? I even called and spoke to someone there yesterday and they said "no stock, no ETA."

yeah, if you go through and add them to your cart, select a warehouse to ship from, it gives you a target ETA. For me in CA.

225/45ZR15 Hankook Ventus R-S3
Blackwall 4 $101.00 $404.00
Alternate Distribution Centers (choose one)
Location Availability Est. Delivery Date Est. Shipping Costs
Indiana Special Order 07/18/2011 - 07/19/2011 $96.78
Delaware Special Order 07/19/2011 - 07/20/2011 $96.78
Nevada Special Order 07/13/2011 - 07/14/2011 $51.50
Louisiana Special Order 07/18/2011 - 07/19/2011 $85.80
Georgia Special Order 07/19/2011 - 07/20/2011 $96.78
Connecticut Special Order 07/20/2011 - 07/21/2011 $96.78

Of course these could just be default estimates for OOS tires

well i guess so, posted just now on m.net from Rudy@tirerack

"We have had a problem getting these the past 2 years. I recommend you buy these 3-4 months before you actually need them. There is no ETA from Hankook at this time. I apologize for the delay, but something I am unable to control unfortunately."

Screw those. Go NT01's and be done. They can be had for 125 each at your local discount tire store. I got tired of waiting for the RS3's last year and went the NT01. LOVE them.

I was on the list with tire rack for the RS3s for almost a month until a couple days ago. Called them up and was told they are only getting the 225/45/15s in about 8 at a time. Decided to take the $80 and go with the star specs. Life is full of compromise :(
