15x8 6ULs all around with 205 star specs are definitely in my future then!

Thanks Rharris!

TR is charging $118 for RS3s now?! Last month I only paid $108, I hope they drop the price or the hot new tire comes out before I need another set.

I'm a firm believer that a 225 RS3 on a 15x9 is faster on an auto-x course than a 205 Z1. I also believe that a 195 R1R on a 15x8 is faster than the RS3s/15x9, unless it's hot, the course has higher speed transitions and/or the R1Rs aren't shaved or worn.

I wish the Z1s came in a 225 and weren't so expensive. I figure a 225 Z1 would be really close to a 235, lol.

Without a doubt they are, but if I needed one tire to be able to drive in dry/wet, I would not choose the RS3. They are terrible in the rain. If I needed a nice day/autocross/track tire then I may steer towards the RS3 on a 9. You also have to know that you will be stuck with that tire or softer treadware unless another tire comes out that will work on the 9.

For spirited street driving, the star spec is a clear choice to me. At the track they hold their own as well. We have used this tire for the past 2 seasons in lemons/chump and it performs great.

The RE11 and Yoke AD08 are 2 other street tire alternatives

205 Stars on 15x8 6ULs, you say?

They fit fine, stock fenders are ok unless you're CR low.

15x8. I run 205 star specs on 15x8 TRmotorsports wheels (+20 offset).. They fit fine.

Am I the only person who thinks the 6 UL looks like a spider?

Someone recently told me my car looked old because of "those wire wheels". She also said the bronze color made them look dirty. I was not pleased.

Some sort of weird 12-legged spider?

Key word - she. Most women's automotive opinions can be safely ignored.

Recalibrate the bitch's sense of old and wrong with this

Should make 6UL's seem space age

Star Spec, damn good tire
Heat cycles - not too many
Loud, harsh, not grippy

Great tires, but mine heat cycled out in about 6 months and 6 or 7 thousand miles of *street* use.

You got that combo to fit under stock NA fenders without a pull or roll? Ride Height?

Unidirectional tires tend to wear in saw tooth on cambered miatas, that's why they become so noisy. I'd rather have an asymetrical tire like the RE-11 I have right now on a 8inch wheel. The are very quiet, tons of grip on dry. Pretty decent on damp also.

I had star specs before and find the Bridgestone a more logical choice for daily driven, week-end lapping car. The more you push the RE-11, the more they give. The star specs became slippier when very hot compared to the Bridgestones.

The side blocks on the RE-11 are less interrupted and give more feedback, which is exactly what im looking for when driving spirited on the track. They have a 10-15% more ''at-the-limit'' grip then the Dunlops when the are hot. Im comparing a 1955015 on a 8inch wheel.

NB, but yes. The fender liners are still in tact, although one is slightly damaged in the front. I have about a 11.75F/12R ride height, and about 2* of camber all around. I don't have any rubbing issues, even at autox.

I didn't need to roll the inner lip of the fender, but I will probably need to if I go to a 225. I wanted 6ULs, but the TRM wheels were cheaper, and +20 is very sexy.

Nope, you need completely flat fenders. I have the same combo.

they don't rub anything on the inside, but for the outside it's a tighter fit than 225 NT-01 on 15x9 6UL.

I think you might be right. I feel like mine got a little bit noisy as I wear them. No where near NT-01 noise levels, though.
