No two impacts are the same, so it's hard to draw parallels between them and compare how one wheel fared vs. another even in a 'similar' incident. That said, running into people will generally ruin your hardware, no surprise.
What began as "these wheels suck" turned into "actually, it's incredible/impressive that these wheels held together as well as they did" once the full story came to light. :giggle: -Ryan |
I'm actually glad I got a set of konig flatouts before they discontinued them, actually at a huge discount through a NASA contingency program. Sure, the RAVS and FORGED are stupid and hokey, and they aren't nearly as strong as a forged or flow-formed wheel, BUT:
They have excellent big brake kit clearance, they balanced nicely, they haven't cracked in two years of R-compound Time Trial use, they're quite light weight, and they look pretty sharp. I don't care that they're shameless replicas, because they've served the purpose of a wheel without any faults. OP, thanks for sharing the 10-year warranty info! |

Though I actually called Good Win Racing before I noticed that the Flatouts say "RAVS" instead of "RAYS"... Thought for a minute that I had just gotten the best deal ever on a set of one piece, forged wheels :-) Good for a laugh! |
