Default How wide will fit rear fenders with and without rolling?

Hey guys,

I am getting to be a bit traction limited on my 195's, with 200 HP at the wheels it is bad enough, I expect to be pushing close to 250 HP at the wheels with my new setup and need to know how wide of a tire I can fit without rolling the rear fenders, and how much wider I can get if I roll them.

I did search, and from what I read, I understand I can get a "daily driver" setup in the 225 range without modification, but I am also interested in what size drag radials I could fit in the back on days I plan to take it to the drag strip.

Thanks,

Keith

NA or NB?
Will you get/already have wheels that are the correct size/offset or are you stuck with something else?

This is on a NB with stock suspension, and I am willing to get new wheels as needed, advice on wheels to use also would be appreciated.

Stock suspension isn't helping you here.

+1 to what Andrew wrote. What plans do you have for suspension?

225/45/15 with 15x9 +36 will work with coilovers. Zero mods needed at any ride height. If you are sticking with stock suspension, tire size won't matter much as you'll be bouncing all over at 250whp regardless.

Follow the advice above. I'm on 15X8 +15 and I just need to roll the fenders. Stiffer suspension will help you unless u want it to slamm the car.

^15x8 in the correct offset for a Miata and you won't have to roll anything. Try +25

I have no objections to an upgraded suspension, I prefer to stay at or near stock ride hight. I didn't bring it up here because there is a separate suspension section to the forum and I didn't want to get slammed for posting suspension issues in the wrong section

I was currently asking specifically about width of tires I can use now on my stock suspension setup in the rear for drag racing, road wheels and tires will be a later question for after I do suspension upgrades...

I now have three different answeres for road and/or track wheels and tires! The 225/45/15 on 15x9 +36 offset wheels no roll needed, 15x8 +15 with rolled fenders, or 15x8 +25 possibly...

Thanks,

Keith
