Maxxis RC-1 R1 vs R2

Maxxis RC-1 R1 vs R2
Doing some tire shopping and hearing mixed reviews on the new RC-1 R2.
My experience with the R1 was excellent durability and wear characteristics with consistent traction even at 50 heat cycles, performance falling off very gradually. I am at the point with 50 heat cycles where I am ready for a fresh set. These are older date coded tires, so freshies will have even better wearing characteristics.
From feedback I've heard, the R1 lasted longer and fell off less through heat cycling while the R2 has better traction but falls off sooner and good for less heat cycles. I have also heard and read the R2 has the better performance and better durability.
Has anyone had experience from these and can chime in?
