My tire carrier

My tire carrier
I drive to my track day events and as I moved to a more aggressive tire (NT01s) I became worried about getting caught in the rain on an interstate going to and from. Also, they are LOUD. I didn’t really want to get a trailer and hitch but searching around saw the Garage Star trunk mounted tire rack, which I thought looked like it might do the trick. The reviews were mixed but that fact that it’s not sold anymore sealed the deal. But the image remained in my head.
Fast forward a year and while on tirerack.com I saw a wall mounted tire holder. https://www.tirerack.com/accessories...g!126552096733!
It looked like it had potential so I got one and cut it up. Had an old trunk mounted bicycle rack with strap hardware. Bought some new straps, suction cups, nuts and bolts and this is what I came up with.
Made two 100-mile trips at highway speeds and rack does not move. Car is stable too. Made some small dents at the rear suction cup but I ding kinged them out and JB Welded some aluminum strips on the underside with no dent on the second trip.
Eventually I might get a trailer but this rig had no problem going 80.
