To add to that...Isley commented on another forum that the G-Spot will be "competitive". And the tire they used for reference in their testing was the RE71R.

Note that this was autocross testing, not track. So cone usage appears to be the primary target market.

Just received a set of 225/45/15 Nexen Sur4G's. They passed the highly technical "fingernail leaves a mark" test. 66 on my durometer at 75°. Soft!
I'll do some sprint races on them in a few weeks. I'll report back if I have any useful info. I'm assuming GRM is gearing up for a super200 shootout now that all the players are in the field

BFG Rival-S 1.5
Hankook RS4
RE71R
Nexen Sur4G
Maybe the Conti Extreme Contact as a control

Ran the sur4g for the first time yesterday. Temperatures were rising rapidly during the first few sessions so we did not get any decent controls. Informal feedback is they are not particularly precise steering on initial turn in or at the limit. Very high grip. Seat of the pants felt the same as the Rival s 1.5. They seem to have a narrower temperature window that they were happy in. Not sure what that temperature is but they were greasy to start got good and then fell off. In contrast the RS4 starts out with a bit more grip and just gets better the more you pound on it. The Rival s would fall off just a little bit but would not lose as much as the sur4g did.

Only did one session so I have no clue as to the wear rate. These might end up being a good option for autocrossers in some classes but I don't see them being as a track Day Tire. The RS4 cost only a bit more and is far less temperature-sensitive.

Default Good

I've been running these for several months and they are extremely sticky, and they last pretty long. Ive driven them theough some pretty rough rain as well and they hold up great

It must be known.. with these tires does the car...

Handle like it's on rails?

Cuz that's what really tells you if it's good or not.

Nexen took 1/2 in C street on an ND at the New Jersey Pro. From what I gather the Garfields are very fast, but its obviously not a slow tire.

Default I love these tires !

Bought these about a year ago and have a proximately 2000 miles on them with very spirited driving and one grueling track day on a rough track surface. They have more than half their tread left. Sticky and forgiving on the track and plenty of traction to put down 220 WHP

Dirty old thread resurrection. But it seems the most valid via google search.

We are are converting from 330 HP Turbo sprint car to an N/A 1800 VVT Jenvey ITB engine setup for endurance/Lemonz (6 hours) racing and the ONLY tyres I can get here in New Zealand at the moment in 225 are the RS4's and the Nexen SUR4G,

Can experienced people chime in with comparisons between these 2 tyres for me?

- Endurance
- Relative performance
- Damp / wet capability

and any other thoughts you might have....

Not sure much of anyone is tracking the sur4g, the sport R on the other hand is proving to be a rather quick super 200tw. It will run several seconds a lap faster than an RS4 but wear is gonna be in the 8-12hr range I'd suspect. They do have the grip though, hooked up my 460whp pretty well.

I might have to give the sport R's a shot this year since the RS4's are still not available in 245/40/15 and no ETA on when more are coming. I'm just looking for a solid tire to turn laps in

Endurance- RS4 maybe 3x longer wearing the Sur4G
Performance- Sur4g .5 t 1s faster on 2 minute course
Wet - Sur4g much faster

This from direct experience with both. I chose the RS4 as the spec tire for our race series just before handing it over to its new owners. Done specifically to reduce consumables cost for the drivers.
