Soo, which one? K1's vs. C1's (pics inside)
 

Top: Kosei K1, 15x7 +38 at 13 lbs each
Bottom: TRMotorsport C1, 15x8 +20 at 15 lbs each

Right now I'm leaning towards the Kosei's. But I do want a wider wheel for looks and traction with 200whp. I also wanted something a little more flush with the fender, and the TRMotorsports fill that void. But the Kosei's are obviously lighter. I think they're both equally appealing, ahhhhhhhh.

Right now I currently have the Kosei's, but someone wants to buy them. I asked 5 of my closest friends and 4 out of the 5 said to keep the Kosei's.

EDIT: While I was photoshopping the other wheels in, I gave the car a drop. So no, my car is not really that low... yet.

If this a street car then a 15x7 will be fine, especially at 200whp. You need to look into tire compound and side wall height if you want more traction, having wider wheels should not be priority number one.

I personally think the K1 is a far better looking wheel and a bonus is that you save 8 pounds of weight. In fact, it's the only other wheel I would trade my KZ-M's for.

It is a street car, but I will be bringing it to some lapping days, autocrosses, and even the drag strip this year. But at the end of the day, it is still my DD (minus winter for the most part). I just bought some new 205/50/15 Nitto NeoGen's that I plan to get mounted this weekend if I keep the K1's and if I don't, they would be mounted on the C1's. So that being said, I don't know if the extra inch on the C1's would be beneficial because I would be using the same tires either way.

I like the fact that there is a nice lip/depth to the C1's compared to the K1's. Plus the K1's have another inch plus a lower offset. But like you said, the K1's will save +8 lbs. Maybe I should just shut up and get some spacers for the Kosei's and call it done.

I think I like the look of the C1's more, I would paint them white either way. But the brand and weight of the K1's, and the fact that I already have them, are making me still lean towards keeping them.

Keep your Kosei's and save for some 15x9 6UL's.

No, that was after swapping suspension and before adjusting ride height. Wheels rubbed bad this low.

+1 for the Kosei's, I love those wheels. Traction shouldn't be too big of a concern at 200whp, even on stock wheels/tires.

If your going to buy wheels, then get something that will fit a 225 tire nicely.

keep the k1's till you can get some nice tires. Then get a wheel that fits the size tire you will run.

This isn't really a fair comparison, you are going to want wider than 7".

I had my K1s up until I needed wider, got 15x8 6ULs, still no traction in first.

It's your tires, not your wheels that are causing you to lose traction. 15x7 is plenty of wheel for a street car.

jtothawhat runs a 15x7 @ 400whp and has limited issues with the proper tire.

One of my good friends is running sub 7's in the 1/8th on a 14x6.5 with a proper tire.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm talking from a point of strictly straight line traction. I would honestly just get 15x9 wheels for autocross/track duty and keep the K1's for street duty.

I guess I didn't think I needed to break it down Barney-style for this crowd, but yes, wider wheels allow one to run wider tires.

15x7 might be enough for some, I don't want to cram a 225 onto a 7" wide wheel.

Agree with others, 15x7 is plenty. I have 15x8 and you have to go to a pretty extreme tire for the proper 225/45 width. A decent tire in the 205 width is $52, where as the cheapest 225/45 tires is over twice that at $122, and is an r-compound. These quotes are from onlinetires.com, pretty cheap prices.

Just looked at tire rack, cheapest is the RS-3 for $103, still twice as much.

Invest in a good LSD or better 205 tires before you start throwing money at a 225 width and 8" wheel.

I even have low grip tires (falken 912), an open diff and I'm fine at 13 psi on my setup.

After thinking about it, I decided it's not worth it until I do turn up the boost and get a LSD. I can't turn up the boost until I get a MS and some new injectors. So after I get those two things out of the way, I'll get an LSD and the worry about new rims/tires. Right now I'm running 10psi making about 200whp and 210wtq. I'll keep the Kosei's until I can get the other things done. Besides, I just bought some 205/50/15 Nitto NeoGen's that I'll be putting on the Kosei's this weekend. I'm on a very poor college kid budget so hopefully I can get the standalone and LSD out of the way so I can turn up the boost and get some 15x9 6UL's and a nice tire.

Yeah, I think the 15x7 will have to do for this year. The 205's are cheaper than the 225's, that's for sure, and that's a factor in my poor budget. I'll take care of the standalone and LSD along with the added boost before I worry about a wider wheel. Down the road I'll probably go with some 15x9 6UL's and a nice tire.
