Default Special order size - Rota Grid V 15x8 +20

Currently the only sizes available for this wheel are:

15x7 +20
15x7 +0
15x8 +0

If you don't know what this wheel looks like, it's a "replica" of the TE37-V and there is a thread here that has pics of the wheels mounted on various Miatae starting around page 10.

I've been in touch with Jenny at 18racing.com and they said that if we can get 3 people together to put deposits down on the Grid V in 15x8 +20 (Bronze) they can get a run specially made in this size. IMO - this is a pretty no-compromise size for the NA and NB Miata. It'll fit decent sized tires with no fender pulling and still looks very flush without the "poke" of the OMGSUPERHELLAFLUSH style.

Cost will be $600/set (Shipped). This arrangement will be 1/2 deposit up front and 1/2 due when the wheels are done in 2-3 months.

I am not collecting money. If you want to participate please contact Jenny directly:

Phone: 925-339-3828

She will process your payment. As soon as we have 3 total people (me +2) they will place the order. If you do put your deposit down, please reply to this thread so that people know this thing has traction.

*This thread posted with permission from Braneack. If it needs to be moved elsewhere please do. I didn't want to put it in the official vendor group buy section since I am not a vendor.

Anyone on this site is going to want weight, and brake clearance information. Looks tight on what appears to be stock 1.8 brakes on the green NA, the one with red calipers.

Good call, Curly. I will attempt to track that info down. It should fit all stock Miata brakes but I wouldn't count on any aftermarket brake upgrades (bigger rotors and/or calipers) to squeeze in there.

EDIT: I have a question in with 18racing with regards to the caliper clearance on the +20 version of the 8" wide wheel. Hope to have a measurement later today. The +0 version actually clears Willwood brakes on at least one NB (jdmwackness on CR.net)

All these nice te-37 and rpf1 replicas coming out recently in nice sizes and offsets is awesome. Finally more choices for those (non track guys) that want something other than 6ul.

Update:

After contacting several owners of the 8" +0 wheels I have determined that the only way these will work (and likely what Rota is planning) is to take the 7" +20 wheel and add 1" of inner barrel plus 1/2" of depth to the mounting pad of the wheel. This will result in a wheel that is not only more appropriate for serious tire sizes but also has 12.7mm more clearance for aftermarket brakes. It would be a much better scenario than any of the current offerings of this wheel. The only sacrifice is that, aesthetically, it will have the same face as the 7" +20 which as the least amount of "dish".

I will verify this once I hear back from Jenny.

I enquired about 9" and it wasn't possible in this wheel style. They have 1 other style that can be done in 9" with a +36 offset (sound familiar?) That is the K7 model.

UPDATE: With regards to color, we can order a different color for every 3 sets of wheels ordered. So, for example, if 6 people order wheels we can get 2 different colors.

Still waiting on brake clearance info. However I did find out that these will have a Miata-specific 54.1 hub bore.

Ok, folks. Just received confirmation from Rota that these will clear brakes on NA and NB Miatas. I've put my deposit down. Call up Jenny and get your deposit in if you want in on this order!

Rota has a couple new wheel models that are offered in 15x9. Some quick searching will turn them up.

I would be interested, you know if I can get just a pair of the 15x8 20 offset, and from the same site get a pair of the 0 offset? I'll get the bronze if it really helps you guys out, but i prefer the gun metal

Just call Jenny at 18racing and ask her about getting a staggered setup. She'll hook you up if she can.

Just received word from 18racing that Rota has backed down on this custom size/offset. They say that the highest offset they can do is the +0. So this is off the table. Sorry if anyone had their hopes up (like I did).
